Our driver Kan Singh of Rajasthan Visit Tours booked us into this hotel and it was the perfect choice for us. We booked two rooms Nos 3 and 4 for ourselves and our adult son. Despite being in a desert area, the gardens in Devi Bhawan are green and well cared for. The resident dachshund keeps everyone in their place while she is on patrol!

The Manager Rakesh Singh is professional and very friendly and cannot go out of his way enough to make your stay comfortable.

The hotel consists of a series of pink coloured buildings in Rajasthani style. Some are individual bungalows and other two-storied buildings. All have their own small verandah for you to sit on in the evenings or at any time. The rooms are large, comfortable and clean. Our room had a window alcove which was the perfect spot for curling up to read and watch the garden. Our ensuite was large with a very large shower - although this was somewhat dark because the lighting was poor and the natural light did not reach the shower area.

The gardens have many large trees which provide shade from the hot sun and provide an oasis like atmosphere far from the dusty streets of Jodhpur. The water feature with its overlooking swing makes a pleasant spot for photographs and for evening drinks.

Tables are scattered through the garden and you can breakfast or lunch under the trees. Dinner is a bit more difficult as the tables are only lit by a single candle.

As with all of India, mosquitos are rampant and you will need to ensure that you are well covered by mosquito repellant. The resident geckos try to keep down the mosquito and other insect population, but I am sure they are losing the battle.

Meals are served in both the indoor restaurant with silver service and in the open air verandah area. The service is good and the staff try their best to accommodate you. We saw some very unpleasant Americans and French who did not get what they wanted making an unnecessary fuss. It is disgusting to see foreigners treat the wait staff the way they do.

You can also have your meals brought to your room at no extra cost.

The pool is kept very clean and there are further pockets of grassy areas where you could hold a group party if you wanted. Sunbeds and cabanas are placed around the pool. You can have drinks and snacks brought to you at the pool.

If you have a driver, then the hotel provides basic accommodation for them.

A small temple provides religious protection for local people.
Next to the reception area is a sitting room with interesting photographs and family memorabilia showing how wealthy Rajasthani families lived.

The buffet breakfast was good and provided a variety of western and indian dishes and you can order eggs. All the food was good and we enjoyed all our meals at the hotel. The hotel is located within a residential area with a small private school next door. As it was away from the usual restaurants, we ate our meals at the hotel and were pleased to do so.

Room Tip: All rooms are lovely although in summer we would definitely choose rooms on the ground floor.

We spent 2 nights in this hotel and it was perfect. The diner we got the 1st day, with simple tali, was very good and not that expensive. The rooms are big and confortable. The staff is always available for any request. The swimming pool is clean and you'll enjoy it after visiting fort and city market. The breakfast is perfect, from fresh fruits to toast, including eggs and cornflakes if you ask for.
I strongly recommend this place

I spent a refreshing afternoon at the Devibhawan using the very nice pool. I didn’t stay overnight but had an afternoon to kill before catching a train and this was the perfect place to relax and get out of the hectic city centre. Rakesh Singh the manager couldn’t have been nicer and more hospitable in responding to my emails and treating me warmly as a guest. I was very impressed by the hospitality.
