We booked this hotel as it was towards the end of our 5.5 month trip around the world and felt the need to splurge one last time. Raas definitely went beyond my expectations for a boutique hotel in small Jodhpur. The hospitality and service is outstanding. Everybody does their best to please and always with a smile. The facilities are outstanding; a beautiful and relaxing pool, a well-designed spa for guests, and two restaurants. The rooms were spacious and our room had a great view of the fort. We loved it. It is definitely an expensive stay for India and especially for Jodhpur but really a great place to go all the way and splurge if you are looking to do so at any point in your trip in India.

Room Tip: The fort view rooms are really worth the extra cost.

I stayed here in peak summer from the 28th of April to the 1st of May with my 8 year old and 2 year old, and still didnt want to leave!
Hats off to Raas and their staff for impeccable service and eye to detail.
Check in was completed in the room, and was a boon since we have arrived hot and tired, and we were given room 114, which in my view was perfect! havent seen other rooms to comment but mine was perfect!
Being Indian and married to a Rajasthani, the overdose of jharokhas and the traditional gammut doesnt do it for me, though that is entirely personal.
So loved the contemporary, yet luxurious room room I was led into with a fabulous bathroom, seperate shower and bath tub area too!
Spotlessly clean, I loved the way the interiors were done, in Terrazo, with the terrazo obviously done on site, and the floor blending in to form the bed, side tables, and bathroom sink, without any joints at all!
Breakfast was all good, and service was great, some items better than the others, but better to find out through trial and error. Egg White masala omlette was my favourite!
The eye to detail really worked for me, for eg, keeping water bottles in an ice near the pool, as the heat demands it! Nice and thoughtful.
Pool is great and fairly shaded so very easy to swim any time of day even in summer!
Now coming to the best part, is the view of the Meherangarh Fort, all lit up, as the back drop to the beautifully candle lit gardens of raas! spectacular view! Could go on looking at it...

Now the Cons which werent really so for me but have to be mentioned nevertheless.

Yes the mosque is very close by, and the call for prayers does happen 5 times a day, including at 5.30 am.
I am a light sleeper, so yes did wake up, and was also worried my 2 year old would wake up but we both patted ourselves back to sleep. None of the other calls at the other times really disturbed me. This is however relative...

Food is on the expensive side but of very very decent standard, and neither me nor my kids had any food poisoning or any other issues! Staff is infact very polite , helpful and attentive.

The hotel is located in the OLD CITY, in "ghanta Ghar" which like any smaller city is very crowded and not the cleanest, but hey, thats India! So if one has a problem with that, It shouldnt be on your list to visit!! Also you dont have to roam the old city and can choose to sightsee the other main sights, so since it is all a matter of choice, I fail to see how this is such a problem. Once inside the hotel, it is like being being in an oasis. Others might view the location as adding to the character, as the old city architecture in the small bylanes is breathtaking to say the least, and an experience worth having in my view!

All in all, love the place, and would surely go back!

Raas is a lovely boutique hotel in Jodhpur. Get a room with a fort view! It's worth the extra money. Rooms are great and very clean. Staff was very kind and attentive. We were here in January so it was quite cold in the morning and evening. Breakfast was served near the pool. We had to sit inside because of the cold but there it was cold as well despite some warm air blowing above our heads. In the evenings they placed fires to warm us up which was nice. Restaurant served good quality food. We would definitely recommend this hotel to stay while in Jodhpur.

Room Tip: Fort view room on higher floor

RAAS Haveli has a privileged location, inside Jodhpur Walled City with an impressive view of majestic Mehrangarh Fort and close to lively Clock Tower and its bazaar. The hotel is a mix of new and traditional rajput architecture. The mix is very fresh combining the famous Jodhpur Blue with the red sandstone and blends nicely with the city. Rass is truly boutique and boasts very spacious and modern designed rooms most of them with impossing views of Mehrangarh Fort. The inner courtyard is beatiful and has a small swimming pool and garden. We had a pleasant stay though we feel service can be easily improved with more organization. The restaurants indoor and outdoor are lovely but the food is very average. Being inside the walled city it is a lot of fun but also means it can get noisy, so maybe is not the best choice for those who are looking for quietness and relaxation.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Inside the Walled City of Jodhpur and under the imposing stare of Mehrangarh Fort, sits RAAS. The site was formerly the home of the aristocratic Thakur family, and the original 18th-century haveli has been carefully renovated to produce the four old buildings of the hotel. The three new buildings are modern and contemporary in their use of space and light, and yet are grounded in tradition. Jodhpur's red sandstone unites the new with the old, with modern designs in its latticing and carving adding a fresh dimension to the region's age-old stone carving industry. This seamless harmony between the old and the new, the modern and the traditional, extends to all aspects of RAAS. Almost all of the rooms have magnificent views of Mehrangarh Fort from both the private terraces and from the cast iron bathtubs, and those that don’t have their own private gardens and views over the old haveli and landscaped gardens of RAAS. The rooms are furnished with state of the art amenities: all rooms are air-conditioned with the latest eco friendly machines, and have overhead fans, hairdryers, safes, central heating, wi-fi, TV, telephones and en suite bathrooms. There are rooms with easy access for the handicapped and non-smoking rooms. RAAS boasts two fine dining restaurants, which offer both Indian and International cuisine: Darikhana is a beautiful terraced restaurant and the Baradari Café is inside the old pavilion and offers a relaxing location near the pool. There is also a luxury spa that offers a full range of treatments and a boutique shop. RAAS is the ideal place to soak up the rich local heritage of Jodhpur while at the same time indulging in opulent luxury and comfort. As soon as you drive through the old wooden gates in RAAS’s very own blue tuk-tuk, the majesty of Mehrangarh Fort will be tempered by your sense of relaxation. ... more   less
