Raas is a lovely boutique hotel in Jodhpur. Get a room with a fort view! It's worth the extra money. Rooms are great and very clean. Staff was very kind and attentive. We were here in January so it was quite cold in the morning and evening. Breakfast was served near the pool. We had to sit inside because of the cold but there it was cold as well despite some warm air blowing above our heads. In the evenings they placed fires to warm us up which was nice. Restaurant served good quality food. We would definitely recommend this hotel to stay while in Jodhpur.

Room Tip: Fort view room on higher floor

RAAS Haveli has a privileged location, inside Jodhpur Walled City with an impressive view of majestic Mehrangarh Fort and close to lively Clock Tower and its bazaar. The hotel is a mix of new and traditional rajput architecture. The mix is very fresh combining the famous Jodhpur Blue with the red sandstone and blends nicely with the city. Rass is truly boutique and boasts very spacious and modern designed rooms most of them with impossing views of Mehrangarh Fort. The inner courtyard is beatiful and has a small swimming pool and garden. We had a pleasant stay though we feel service can be easily improved with more organization. The restaurants indoor and outdoor are lovely but the food is very average. Being inside the walled city it is a lot of fun but also means it can get noisy, so maybe is not the best choice for those who are looking for quietness and relaxation.

This hotel is the perfect combination of modern and ancient! The rooms are spacious and modern with beautiful views of the fort, while the property is all red clay and is lit up beautifully at night with many candles. The staff are very attentive and brought my mom special teas with dinner when she caught a cold.

The only cons are:
-Friday night prayers sort of ruin a relaxing dinner (the calls to prayer in the morning aren't bothersome at all, and if they are, Raas provides ear plugs)

-The staff at dinner were sort of nonexistent and it took forever to get our food

This hotel is the perfect place to stay in Jaipur -- don't miss it!

Room Tip: Try to stay on a higher floor for a better view of the fort.

Just got back from a fabulous trip to Rajasthan, during which we stayed at a variety of hotels ranging from pretty basic (at around 40 euros a night) to super-luxurious (around 400 euros a night). Of all of them, we feel that the Raas, as a mid-range option (around 200 euros a night), was our overall favourite. This was due in particular to the warmth and genuine hospitality of all the staff, which the Oberoi Udaivilas would do well to learn from (!) .... We stayed here twice and on both occasions were upgraded to a room with its own garden, which was very much appreciated. The style is rather minimalist, which we actually found very calming after the assault on all your senses that is India! This might not be to everyone's taste, and of course is not comparable with the opulence of, say, the Leela Palace in Delhi, but we felt very comfortable here. The bathroom was great, with a large bath tub and impressive separate shower. The bathrobes provided were so comfortable, I ended up buying one as a souvenir. The hotel's gardens, restaurants and pool have been carefully designed to complement the stunning views of the fort. The property looks particularly beautiful at night, with lots of candles set into recesses in the walls. We dined at the hotel once, which was very enjoyable (my only minor criticism would be the somewhat over-attentive service - I personally find it rather annoying to have my glass/plate topped up after every sip or mouthful, as this completely interrupts the flow of conversation at the dinner table, but I do realise that other diners expect this and it is very hard to please everyone) - and once at the nearby rooftop restaurant Indique, for which the hotel receptionist booked us an excellent table and then insisted on having the security guard escort us the few metres' walk to the restaurant, which again was very much appreciated. Other reviewers have already mentioned the mosque - the call to prayer did not bother us, as we found it atmospheric; the lengthy Friday night prayers were rather more intrusive but they are a fact of local life, in the same way that church bells are part of English village life, and as other reviewers have commented, the hotel does provide ear plugs. The staff all seemed to know us by name and greeted us warmly wherever we went, and our requests such as booking a car and driver to Jaisalmer and booking an onward flight to Udaipur were dealt with very efficiently, and everything ran smoothly. We would like to say a big thank you to them for helping to make our trip so amazing, and we would love to come back one day.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Inside the Walled City of Jodhpur and under the imposing stare of Mehrangarh Fort, sits RAAS. The site was formerly the home of the aristocratic Thakur family, and the original 18th-century haveli has been carefully renovated to produce the four old buildings of the hotel. The three new buildings are modern and contemporary in their use of space and light, and yet are grounded in tradition. Jodhpur's red sandstone unites the new with the old, with modern designs in its latticing and carving adding a fresh dimension to the region's age-old stone carving industry. This seamless harmony between the old and the new, the modern and the traditional, extends to all aspects of RAAS. Almost all of the rooms have magnificent views of Mehrangarh Fort from both the private terraces and from the cast iron bathtubs, and those that don’t have their own private gardens and views over the old haveli and landscaped gardens of RAAS. The rooms are furnished with state of the art amenities: all rooms are air-conditioned with the latest eco friendly machines, and have overhead fans, hairdryers, safes, central heating, wi-fi, TV, telephones and en suite bathrooms. There are rooms with easy access for the handicapped and non-smoking rooms. RAAS boasts two fine dining restaurants, which offer both Indian and International cuisine: Darikhana is a beautiful terraced restaurant and the Baradari Café is inside the old pavilion and offers a relaxing location near the pool. There is also a luxury spa that offers a full range of treatments and a boutique shop. RAAS is the ideal place to soak up the rich local heritage of Jodhpur while at the same time indulging in opulent luxury and comfort. As soon as you drive through the old wooden gates in RAAS’s very own blue tuk-tuk, the majesty of Mehrangarh Fort will be tempered by your sense of relaxation. ... more   less
