Raas Haveli is fantastic in many ways - but nothing compares to the stunning views of Mehranghar Fort from your own room. You almost don't want to leave Raas and explore the city so you can take in the fort under the changing light thoughout the day.
But Raas is not just about the views. Service is exceptional, food delicious, the decor exquisite. Attention to customers' needs is amazing. Can't decide what item on the menu you want for breakfast? No problem, the chef will come over and discuss whatever it is that you really feel like.
Management is also eager to learn what opportunities for improvement you may think of. After asking for our feedback and discussing it in detail when we checked out, we were surprised to see some of our suggestions already implemented a few days later when we returned to Jodhpur after a visit to Jaisalmer.
And speaking of of Jaisalmer - we were also delighted to learn upon arrival that the manager at Raas had called ahead, and the manager of the hotel in Jaisalmer was expecting us with a warm welcome.
All in all, a fantastic experience rarely matched in my travels.

Lovely small hotel with a very attentive staff. Great view from my room. Clean, comfortable and very well located in the old portion of the city. Within walking distance of the markets, fort, and the blue homes. Great courtyard entry. The only reason this hotel doesn't get 5 stars is that I've had the opportunity to stay at four different Singita lodges in Africa, one of which was rated #1 in the world (Sasakwa). That is my five star standard. I would highly recommend this hotel.

We really enjoyed the impeccable service, attention to detail and stunning views from this hotel. It is a hidden gem, for someone seeking a personal touch and contemporary Indian design. The pool is lovely, and there are a number of cozy nooks and corners to relax in--the only disturbance in this haven of tranquility is the very loud call from the mosque nearby, so worth knowing about that beforehand--but then again, one doesn't come to India for silence!

Room Tip: Although the rooms at the back have views of the fort, there might be a slight stench from the gutte...

My wife and I have just spent three nights here and have enjoyed every moment as the food and staff have been so wonderful . The location is excellent being right inside the old city so everything is within walking distance. A truly first class boutique hotel which we would have no hesitation in recommending.

My wife and I had a great three days at Raas in Jodhpur. The property is beautiful, extremely well-located, and a haven of tranquility in the blue city. Our room was outstanding, stylish but exceptionally comfortable, with an incredible view of the Mehranghar Fort.

Really can't say enough about this place... the staff were wonderful, attentive and kind, the spa was terrific, the food was excellent, especially the Indian food. They were very helpful with any requests in terms of outings, transport, confirming outbound flight, etc. (a tour around the innards of Jodhpur in the blue rikshaw was complimentary). It was a bit cold for swimming (by Indian standards, some foreigners were game), but the pool is beautiful, and it was extremely relaxing to lounge beside it and read with a coffee.

We were a bit concerned that the namaz from the adjacent mosque would wake us up early in the morning, but this was not a problem. The 'sermon' is the evening was slightly irritating, but after a minute or so one could block it out quite easily.

Hopefully more Indian travelers will discover Raas... it seemed to be pretty much just foreigners while we were there, which was surprising, considering how many of our friends in Bombay had told us great things about it.

Absolutely terrific choice for a great getaway... India could definitely use more properties like Raas!

Room Tip: We decided to spend a bit more for a room overlooking the fort (I believe almost all rooms overlook...

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Inside the Walled City of Jodhpur and under the imposing stare of Mehrangarh Fort, sits RAAS. The site was formerly the home of the aristocratic Thakur family, and the original 18th-century haveli has been carefully renovated to produce the four old buildings of the hotel. The three new buildings are modern and contemporary in their use of space and light, and yet are grounded in tradition. Jodhpur's red sandstone unites the new with the old, with modern designs in its latticing and carving adding a fresh dimension to the region's age-old stone carving industry. This seamless harmony between the old and the new, the modern and the traditional, extends to all aspects of RAAS. Almost all of the rooms have magnificent views of Mehrangarh Fort from both the private terraces and from the cast iron bathtubs, and those that don’t have their own private gardens and views over the old haveli and landscaped gardens of RAAS. The rooms are furnished with state of the art amenities: all rooms are air-conditioned with the latest eco friendly machines, and have overhead fans, hairdryers, safes, central heating, wi-fi, TV, telephones and en suite bathrooms. There are rooms with easy access for the handicapped and non-smoking rooms. RAAS boasts two fine dining restaurants, which offer both Indian and International cuisine: Darikhana is a beautiful terraced restaurant and the Baradari Café is inside the old pavilion and offers a relaxing location near the pool. There is also a luxury spa that offers a full range of treatments and a boutique shop. RAAS is the ideal place to soak up the rich local heritage of Jodhpur while at the same time indulging in opulent luxury and comfort. As soon as you drive through the old wooden gates in RAAS’s very own blue tuk-tuk, the majesty of Mehrangarh Fort will be tempered by your sense of relaxation. ... more   less
