The Surya is a small guest house and restaurant in a quiet corner of Jaisalmer, right at the end of the street when you turn left from the Main Square. It spreads over a traditional haveli and the restaurant room sits on the edge of the golden castle with a wide view of the whole city below and the desert at the distance. It's a unique place. Very much the traditional indian place where you go and eat, talk, make friends with other people sitting around and where you easily can find a dozen people eating of 6 or 7 different nationalities. They can cook almost anything you ask for, freshly made and brought to you with a smile. Aku is the cook and if you're lucky he will even sing an Indian song with words of princesses and maharajas long gone. You have to go there more than once to feel the atmosphere. For breakfast, for dinner or just for a cool lassi with some fruit they'll buy specially for you... Every hour of the day has a different shade of light over the city and a different subject will come up for conversation. It's a place to enjoy... simply!
