This Hotel has been operational since about 8 years.. It is a Palace Hotel and an effort has been made to recreate the fine carved work of Jaisalmer in its Architecture. It is at many levels and is very spacious. with beautiful large gardens. It has two restaurants and a bar. The Marwari restaurant open only at dinner time seems quite interesting. The rooms are large and comfortable. The Hotel is half an hour away from Jaisalmer

Suryagarh is a special place that has to be experienced to be believed. Everything about this place is like a fairy tale where you live in a palace in the middle of the desert where you are treated like royalty! This is the epitome of luxury that is unmatched anywhere else in the World.

Everything is perfect about this place, the staff, the service, the food, the accommodations, the setting, the entertainment, the culture, the palace grounds. We even extended our stay to a total of 4 nights. Every morning we had sumptuous breakfast with peacocks & finished off the evening under the stars listening/watching authentic entertainment and having the most amazing dinners!

No doubt, we will definitely return this fine place where everything is perfect!

After staying at many fine hotels throughout the World, we believe that only in India can one experience this type of service & luxury.

Room tip: We stayed at 2 signature suites which were perfect!

This hotel, set in the desert outside of Jaisalmer is a stunning place built in the style of a fortress palace. It sits in beautiful grounds which are meticulously maintained. The public rooms, balcony seating areas and bedrooms sit around a large courtyard where birds fly freely. Furnishings and artefacts reflect the local culture. The hotel has a large garden where vegetables and herbs are grown. There is a small amphitheatre where daily evening concerts take place. There is an indoor swimming pool, but no outdoor pool. There is a snooker room, a gym and spa.

There are at least two restaurants, one which houses an evening buffet, a more intimate a la cartel restaurant, or you can choose to eat in the courtyard.

Our room, a palace room, was large, with a separate seating area. The room was well equipped and the bed was very comfortable. Wifi is good throughout the site.

Breakfast is buffet style with the option to eat inside or in the courtyard. A flautist sits high up in the window in the morning
serenading the guests. There are doves and peacocks which wander around and donkeys are brought in the enchant the guests. Dinner was good, but wine was very expensive. We felt the waiting staff at both dinner and breakfast lacked direction. We used the in-room dining option on one evening which was promptly delivered and first class.

The hotel's location out of town means it is set in a peaceful location. If you wanted to experience the night life or dine out in Jaisalmer it would necessitate a 10 to 15 minute taxi journey.

Stayed from 20 to 23 March 2018. This is an experience never to be forgotten. Real luxury.

We had a spotlessly clean suite and bathroom which was done up twice a day.

Breakfast was exceptional with a wide array of food. Sat out in the garden for breakfast and dinner. The issues we had out in the garden were the house sparrows during the day being a bit of a nuisance with their habits, the dim light during dinner time and the constant vigil by the waiters which I imagine the Maharajas expected from their staff !!

The staff at the front desk, the waiters and waitresses and the rest of the staff were extremely friendly and obliging.

All in all we will definitely recommend this hotel to our friends.

My friends and I spent two wonderful days at this hotel. Its not an old hotel and was built only a decade earlier. But you wouldn't know as the architecture and Jaisalmer's yellow stones were used to construct in the fashion of a palace as in the ancient kingdom of Jaisalmer. Animal lovers would love this place as you can see all kinds in the compound and within the hotel - donkeys, peacocks, goats, birds - and every evening, a traditional Rajput band crooning haunting melodies. The spacious grounds house a man-made lake where we had a private dinner organised by the hotel with a traditional dancing and singing group to entertain us. Food was excellent, though, like most North Indian food, a little rich. But the hotel's attention to detail and their impeccable service made it a stay to remember.

Room tip: Choose a room with a view of the grounds.
