“Definitely a Traveller's Choice”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 March 2012

We opted for Suryagarh because of the rave reviews it received in TripAdvisor. And it turned out a wonderful choice for our vacation at Jaiselmer, the golden city. Its a wonderful place with 5* amenities. The staff was amazing. The best we saw so far. Specially MunMun, I had a request for a special arrangement for lunch with music, flowers at the canopy outside and it was met with perfection. the best arrangements and personal attention. We enjoyed the customized menu which the chef had suggested and it was wonderful stay for us..

PS: This is not a heritage property, its a newly constructed place with royal architecture.

I stayed at the Suryagarh Hotel recently, and it was genuinely one of the most blissful experiences of my life to date. It is a palatial, 5* beauty with every amenity you can possible want - incredibly friendly and helpful staff, delicious food at both of their two restaurants, stunning, large bedrooms and it was very peaceful.

The spa is heavenly - I did Yoga every morning outside and with a top class teacher, and loved it. The Romance Of Rajputana couples therapy is their signature spa treatment and it was 2.5 hours of complete bliss. When we finished we went up to our room and the staff had lit candles around our room and bathroom and scattered rose petals, and gave us presents as well (wooden camel, scented candles and traditional wooden jewellery box.)

Being at the Suryagarh Hotel was like being part of a family... it really was perfect and I would definitely go again.

Highly recommended!!!!

Thank you for making our trip so special.

We spent two nights at Suryagarh in very well appointed suite. From the moment we arrived we were treated really well. The check-in procedure was really prompt and efficient. We had a quick tour of the facilities which is of an excellent standard. Upon arrival in our room we had some problems getting connected to the internet which was resolved very promptly and at the end of the stay discovered that the service was given on a complimentary. Very Kind of them. The two traditional Rajastani meals we had at night, were prepared to perfection by Chef Bimal. The Laal Maas in particular was exceptional. The breakfast was a slight disappointment with regards to variety and is an area where improvement will be welcome. The staff in the restaurants were very efficient and friendly. Overall, our stay at this impressive facility was a pleasure and we would certainly go back there

We stayed at the Suryagarh during the Desert Festival. The architecture is stunning and the layout of all the facilities around a beautiful courtyard is pleasing to the eye and quite impressive. We stayed in one of their suites, well laid out spaces, and great bathrooms. The interior design is in questionable taste, some of it is outright is outright tacky. Housekeeping Service and Front Office Operation are excellent, however, food and beverage leave a lot to be disired. One of the few hotels in India where we encountered less than hospital employees in the Restaurants. The quality of food is not terribly good and neither do the restaurants impress with variety. This hotel would like to be a luxury hotel, but does not really know how to. However, they do know how to charge luxury prices - for example this hotel charges more for laundry than the Umaid Bhawan Palace - yet, when it comes to the quality of the laundry service and presentation this hotel is not even close. The hotel needs to start paying attention to maintenance details. The hotel was designed to impress, yet finish levels and quality of construction are quite spotty. Most annoying of all - re-surface the faux cobblestone driveway to the hotel entrance - what a terrible first and last impression!!

The architecture of Suryagarh Hotel makes it look as if it's been a fort near Jaisalmer for centuries now, but it is an all-new hotel. It looks traditional from the outside and inside, but it is completely modern from within. Heck, what's wrong with that? It is really beautiful as you draw up to the property. The lobby is gorgeous - do look at the unique lighting upwards. The massive courtyard is a place of activity. In the evenings, when the traditional folk musicians play and the lights have just come on, it leaves a lasting impression on you.

The room I had was a long walk but no complaints - it makes you admire the space and craftsmanship as well as the objets d'art placed around. The room is well appointed and my corner facing one opened up to the long "ramparts" of the "fort". Good to catch up with a coffee in the mornings and evenings.

The room has everything you will need and is comfortable. I only wish they had paid more attention to the plumbing - the shower could have been better, for instance. Other than that, no cribs. Great property.

Room Tip: Ask for one on the higher levels which will give you a view of the desert
