Desert Boys Guest House on the fort was a most excellent selection of places to stay in Jaisalmer. The staff was very friendly and made sure we had all of the things we needed. They even made sure I had a place to sleep for a few hours (as I arrived at 5:40 am on the train) so I could be more awake when I actually checked into a room for the next night -this was free of charge, as was the motor cycle pick up at the train station. The views from the fort were fantastic, you really felt like you were thrown back in time for a genuine Rajasthani experience. From decor, to food, to location Desert Boys Guest House was great, and the price point was even better.

They helped friends of mine book other train/bus tickets and helped facilitate a city tour and destinations to see/ miss based upon our likings. They even joined us for a sunset on the roof one night; It really felt like a family. I feel like I made good friends at this destination and would absolutely most definitely go back and or recommend it to others!

Highly recommend this accommodation in Jaisalmer located inside the fort great location short walking distance to all the attractions, I found this accommodation quite by accident, the staff were really helpful, giving information, booking tickets etc, great restaurant, excellent food and fantastic views from the rooftop.

If you intend doing a camel safari whilst in Jaisalmer Desert Boys run they're own safari, highly recommend this, very professionally run, book through them the price is competitive the location in the desert away from the crowds, the guys that run this know they're stuff, great fun and big thumbs up to them, all rubbish is removed from the dunes, responsible tourism.

Room Tip: Pretty much depends what type of room you are after.

Desert Boys guest house, inside Vyaspara, Jaisalmer is a family affair - run by the very hospitable Pradeep and Aravind Vyas, this cosy guest house is tucked away in a small lane in the Jaisalmer fort. The rooms are at three levels and are all done in ethnic Rajasthani style. There're several advantages to staying here including the location. First, you're only a very short walk away from the superb Jain temples inside the fort and from the palace. Second, the view of the setting sun is from the fort wall (that you can actually sit on and enjoy your dinner at) is superb! Third, and this is most important - the Vyas bros will go out of their way to accommodate you, make sure that you're comfortable in the room and give directions, etc.

The couple reasons why I'm deducting a start is that some of the support staff (especially the ones that run the kitchen) just dont get the same courteous attitude that the vyas bros have. The second reason is that the rooms do require some maintenance.

Room Tip: Speak with Arvind personally, he's a good person and will help you get the best one possible!

Being located inside the fort, it is really up to you whether or not you feel comfortable staying here, with the controversy about the water situation.

The room was comfortable, with lots of space and quite well decorated. Just a few design flaws like not having a power point and the ceiling fan having only two settings (full bore or off).

The staff were nice, organizing a pick up from the bus stop and holding our bags while we went on a camel safari. We didn’t do a safari with them, choosing to go with another company. This was through no fault of theirs, and I’m sure they offer good safaris. It did seem a little awkward when we came back to stay another night, but nothing directly was said.

I would recommend this place to other travelers, cause it really seems like most other options inside the fort were quite average.

Room Tip: Ask for a west facing room for a pretty cool sunset view from your bed

My sister and I had chosen a cheaper option in Jaisalmer but had some unusual experiences and wanted somewhere clean and safe. Desert Boys Haveli delivered in spades. The service was professional, the rooms were welcoming and atmospheric and there were nice cultural touches.

By the way we loved Jaisalmer and the many wonderful people we met there. A definite highlight of India.
