“Beautiful guesthouse”

Staff: Very good staff, Mouna is just full of energy and you sometime need to tell him to relax and listen. Alladin (cook) very cool and relax.

Rooms: go for the Honeymoon suit...lovely room and very big

Food: Alladin cooks the greatest food in the fort...we joined him in the kitchen and everything was made fresh and very clean using bottle water.

Camel safari: The only downside of the trip was the camel with Mouna...It was pleasant since riding a Camel for the first time is always exciting however the Tour is not very organised compared to the big Camel tours such as Coudhi etc. I can't blame Mouna for trying to start his own business since he and his familly bought camels to do safari and bring income however it is missing structuration.

Overall the stay was fabulous and we enjoyed our stay in Jaisalmer and the roof-top patio at night is amazing.

Led by our FootPrints handbook we made our way from the railway-station of Jaisalmer to the 'Desert Haveli', after a few days in Udaipur and Jodphur.

But by now I can honestly write, that Jaisalmer was the highlight of our Rajasthan short-trip, also because of this classy Haveli.

Muna, the guy who seems to run it all by himself, is a straight and very dedicated person. First I wanted to book a camel-safari independently from our hotel, but after some hard bargaining we accepted his offer. So he arranged it for two days and one night in the desert.

And it was a real good time with Baba, Aladin and our camels. Those original and simple dishes were some of the best things I have ever tasted. The sleep-over on a dune, facing the star-picked sky, will be an unforgettable for anyone.

When we were picked up Munar jumped out of the jeep and handed us over two bottles of ice-cold water, just the thing we were lacking off.

On our very last day in the 'Desert Haveli' cooked for us a great diner, although the ktichen was closed and brought us safely to our bus, leaving Jaisalmer.

So we are hoping to come back soon to Jaisalmer and our special Haveli. Thanks a lot again to all the people, that made our stay so enjoyable.

Don't stay at this hotel. I was very disappointed as the hotel wasn't what it seems to be a what was written in the reviews. The hotel was ok but made very lifeless, worst and there wasn't a proper manager at the reception to check me in and I've got to wait for quite awhile. The room windows were dirty, dust all over the room...no safe in the room..everything seems awful!!! Because of staff of hotel.
Don't expect to see anything close to what is published on their website!!!. Manager [munnar] always pushing for desert safari but we don’t want to go. After our decision he [munnar ] and all were bluntly rude, or at best unhelpful.
Breakfast was horrible because the food was cool and it was just leftovers though it was before 10am. Was really disappointed. The word unpleasant is an under-statement to describe my experience. Horrible hotel with very unhelpful staff !!! Definitely not recommended!!!!

We stayed here when the usual bosses Abdul and Aladdin were not there. The rooms are lovely in a 950 year old building, nice views from the rooftop and the helper Ishmel was wonderful :) Our host Mannur however was a mixed bag. As soon as we arrived we had the camel trekking elaborately laid out for us at an extortionate 4000 Rs. The description sounded wonderful with lovely food a 3 hour trek, sleeping in the dunes visiting a desert village, tel\mples and then another morning camel trek- however in reality we got 2 hours on a camel, went round lots of villages (which grew tiresome as people just stare at you, I couldn't even go for a discreet pee without 10 children watching me) It was also Mannur doing the rounds going to see his family rather than our expereince. We were not fed until 10 at night and the food was not great, in the morning we had no more camel trekking, waited 2 hours for breakfast which was more of curry we had eaten the night before- I couldn't stomach more. And were taken to a temple which we just sat outside as he wouldn't pay the entry fee. It wasn't great- lovely to meet the villagers and being on a camel but massively overpriced and more about Mannur seeing his family than us which was sad.

I could not have had a better start to my India trip than the one I had at Desert Haveli thanks to Abdul and Aladdin who do their up most to ensure you have a great stay. They are keen to please doing what they can to make your stay memorable. While Abdul is busy managing the haveli with great expertise, Aladdin is cooking the most amazing food. On reading Trip Advisor reviews I thought perhaps Aladdin’s cooking maybe overrated – it is not, in three weeks it was by far the best food I had in India.
The haveli’s furnishings compliment the area giving it a genuine desert feel. From the roof top views of the Jain temples, fort and town spread out into the desert as far as the eye can see.
Desert Haveli is not a hotel and as such does not have the facilities expected of one. It is a small guest house in an old haveli built in the fort ramparts hundreds of years ago, with narrow steep steps and small rooms. These points are not negatives but need bearing in mind if you want standard hotel accommodation. Desert Haveli surpassed all the hotels I stayed in India, thanks to Abdul and Aladdin who have got it just right providing a wonderful place to stay.
