“April 2012 visit.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 April 2012

It's got a great collection of artifacts, I especially liked the instruments. Charges for camera usage are 150 rupees. Worth a visit, and there's a lady selling brass items outside on the other side of the street. The "shop" at the end of the museum visit needs a total revamp. It's worth the visit even just to get into the depths of the Lacshmi Road to see some "true India".

“Great collection”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 April 2012

The collection is fantastic and very extensive, however the display needs to be improved. There is also no climate control which is essential to the preservation of objects. Some works are in need of conservation.

“Must see unique heritage collection, breathtaking”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 April 2012 via mobile

This was my fourth visit to this unique museum of art from everyday life both in homes and in palaces. It has everything from ornate betel nut crushers to musical instruments, exquisite vegetable cutters to saris, swords to paper mache images of deities from home shrines. Items that have been loved in homes. And the whole room of a courtesan from the 18th century. The collection has clearly been gathered with love and a unique eye for beauty and history. The grandson of the original creator was on the premises and showed us around. It was nice to see ongoing preservation efforts and that the collection is still loved and well presented. Beautiful experience for lovers of Indian heritage.

“Dont miss it if you are in Pune!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 February 2012

Loads of different artifacts, collected across the country. It is really well managed, with specific halls allocated to various classes of things. Photography is allowed for a small fee. Mastani hall in the museum is worth a mention.

There is an excellent restaurant, Bapat Upahar Griha, just next to the museum. One can savour all famous maharashtrian recipe's there.
