Awesome - The location. It has been an erstwhile Taj Hotels property. Hence the location is a killer. The main building too has an old world charm, with a jute carpet wooden staircase going down from the reception. Old photographs of Chiplun grace the walls.

Not so Awesome - Service. Staff did not seem to understand things. Especially at the restaurant. Always had to explain things 3 or 4 times before folks understood. Also the quality of the same dish ordered twice was inconsistent. A solkadi ordered the first time was heavenly. A repeat order fell flat. Overpriced food at the resort, for not a very good quality. They retained the Taj prices, but neither the quality or service

Room Tip: An upper story room will give great views of the valley below

This place is a gem. I have heard a lot about this hotel but got a chance to stay their recently while travelling from Mumbai to Goa. This hotel has got everything that is needed to have a relaxed stay. Beautiful property, excellent food, well maintained amenities, scenery around the hotel, relaxing pool, lawn, chirping of birds, kids related stuffs etc. The hotel was built in 1989 but is still in good shape.

This is an old property in Chiplun. The location is just awesome and it faces the vashishti river. Its got an old world charm. The rooms are large and clean. The staff is very helpful and the resort itself is quiet large and has beautiful grounds. The food is nice but expensive. It used to be owned by the Taj group till 2004. Now it is run by a private entity.

Room Tip: choose the river facing rooms

Researching on Tripadvisor, web and travel guides for a place to stay in and explore beaches like Ratnagiri and Ganapatipule, I was a bit confused. Finally I settled for The Riverview Resort at Chiplun, and also checked out few resorts at Ratnagiri and Ganapatipule during my stay. I can now safely recommend to fellow travelers to stay in this wonderful resort, and see the many beaches and other sites within 150 KM radius. Previously owned by Taj group, the present management has done a wonderful job of maintaining high standards. The property is big and very beautiful. Views of the Vashishthi river and rolling valleys is breathtaking from the hotel. Service and cleanliness are excellent. Hotel can arrange a boat ride on the river. Prices appear a bit steep, but the rooms are large and have two queen beds so a family can stay together and actually save money. Complimentary breakfast is not served but an excellent restaurant, and many dining options nearby make up for that. All in all, without doubt - it is the best place to stay at in the entire region.

Room Tip: Go for the riverview rooms. These are pricier - but you get the top floor, and the astounding view from the attached balcony.

everything good about this resort except that it need urgent rennovation.
i donot understand what they are waiting for
rooms need urgent furniture change. bathroom needs tiles change
simple things like door lock, chair cushion etc needs to be changed.
people are writing good reviews based on natural beauty of this place and also good quality food
but one thing cannot be ignored that is room condition. rooms are like ordinary lodge rooms here. old style TV with old style furniture which can break any time. small chairs and even bed can break any time.
bathroom tiles are age old and even taps need to change.
i hope management notice is before its too late
rest all is awesome here
nice pool
nice garden
nice view
lot of natural beauty
peaceful place
good resturant
