“Aurangabad Trip”
Reviewed 21 June 2012

The Manor hotel is centrally located at Aurangabad. The hotel has all the amenities. The rooms are very well maintained. The restaurant of the hotel serves good and very tasty food. The hotel has a bar also. The options are limited. The restaurant has good menu and serves tasty food. The quality of the food is very good. The room size are good for the stay. Breakfast menu is also very good with only juices missing from the breakfast.
There is no swimming pool.

this hotel is by far the worst i´ve ever been in. Staff is very rude and extremely pushy when they´re trying to sell their own tours. About cleanliness:the blankets had several stains so I slept with all my clothes on, the bathroom was not clean at all with no light, no soap and no hot water. The staff was unclear about the hotel check out time so at the end the charge more money. No internet. WORST HOTEL & LIAR STAFF

Room Tip: dont stay here

From reading reviews on trip advisor before we left, it appeared this hotel used to be quite dated and in poor shape but that some renovations had been done to significantly improve it. After staying there for 2 nights it appears those renovations are still underway and that they are trying to turn the Manor into a very modern hotel (they were working on the drywall in the stairwell while we were there). I guess the fact the building has some 'old bones' so to speak and is being fitted with some very modern updates just creates a very unusual mix of features. For instance a new glass walled shower area has been put in the bathrooms which looks very modern and sleek, except that there is no drain in the shower area so the water has to run across the bathroom to the drain which is behind the toilet - no walking with socks on in the bathroom if anyone has taken a shower. The hallways have been updated but the elevator appears a hundred years old and is very quirky to actually make it work (don`t press your floor number until AFTER the door closes) - you can usually walk down two floors faster than the elevator will get you there. Much of the hotel looks very modern and nice but occassionally you see storage rooms with the door open and they look decrepid. The lobby has not been updated and looks older compared to the very modern looking rooms. The dinner in the restaurant both nights was absolutely excellent. It appears they are trying to give 5* service as they are constantly watching your table and jump anytime it appears you need something - sometimes they are almost too intrusive in their efforts and they seem to have a dozen people working in the restaurant even in non-peak hours. They do little five star things like dish out your food onto your plate for you and insist on pouring your water from the bottle you ordered and the chef even came out to check how we liked our meal, like would be done in a fine restaurant. All unexpected for a place that looked 3* from the online description. Sometimes we shooed away staff as we were being helped a little too much. While the dinners were some of the best we had at the 5 hotels we stayed at in India, the breakfast buffet was awful - at least all the Indian dishes - there was not a single one I liked. Again kind of quirky and weird that both dinners were excellent (we tried many different dishes) yet the breakfast was so bad. They did have the option of boiled eggs or fresh made omelletes which we reverted to after trying the Indian breakfast options, so there was edible food available in the morning. The staff at reception also jumped anytime we needed something, but sometimes dropped the ball (maybe due to language issues) - like when I locked my room key in my room which they seemed to understand (they repeated this back to me) but they then made we walk all the way to the room to announce`"oh, you locked your room key in your room" and then told me to come back after dinner before they would let me back in the room even though they had the master key?? It appears to be a hotel in transition and still trying to find a new identity and service standard with some 5* features and some 1* and I`ve never stayed in a hotel that mixed them like that so it is hard to give an overall rating. Some features of this hotel are awesome and some poor, but nothing about the hotel that is horrible so overall I would say it is acceptable, would recommend it as a reasonable mid priced hotel and give it 3* (maybe 3.5, but trip advisor doesn`t allow that!). The bed is new and very comfortable.

Room Tip: We faced the street but did not find it to be too noisy

Book on the internet after looking at the photos ...nothing like the pictures. The reception area is bare and basic. First hotel with FREE internet. Rooms very basic, we had a large delux room which was cold and unwelcoming, the bathroom had many faults, and generally a 2 star hotel. The location is not central, right in front of it a fly over is being constructed, lots of dust and garbage around the area. The only redeeming feature was the fabulous outdoor restaurant called Balle Balle. Staff was helpful and obliging.

Room Tip: Check the bathroom for drainage before accepting the room
