“Complete let down for the price that was paid. Definitely avoidable!!!”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 April 2012

I happened to come across Mahua Bagh Farm on the internet, as i had never ever heard that such a place existed. in fact, when i spoke to the marketing manager, Ms. Aarti Mishra, she told me taht they even had a place in Pench and in fact, they are the best there right now. and so, being from the hospitality industry myself and working in one of the oldest and best hospitality chains in the country, I had high hopes from this place. When we reached Mahua Bagh Farm, we were greeted warmly by the manager there and were shown our room. The entire place has a rustic feel to it which is exactly what we were looking for. A place with basic facilities, yet it has to be clean. However, this was not the case. We were booked to stay there for one night and when we arrived in the afternoon of the first day, although i had informed the Ms. Mishra that we would be arrivign late afternoon, she mentioned that lunch would be kept aside for us. however, the lunch that we had to partake of, was simply unappetising. The chicken pieces were measly (cut so tiny) and the pieces that were available were just the organs or merely bony pieces. There was no variety in what was offered. On complaining to the staff on duty, we were offered a special chicken dish that night which i must say was really really good. Dinner that night was good. Housekeeping jsut does not exist in that place. The evening tea glass stayed on in our room until the next day when we checked out in the afternoon. The bathroom and toilet was never clearned even once during our stay, neither was the dustbin cleared, nor were the linen and towels changed and forget about the room being done up. In fact, we asked for the bed sheets to be changed thrice as the sheets had huge stains on them and as we normally do,thankfully we had carreid our own bedsheeets and pillow covers, so we could use that. The shower also did not have hot water. Even our driver was not treated well when it came to food. although we had made it clear to the manager, that the driver given non-veg. food whenever we were eating, we were told that it would be taken care of. but that was not the case. all in all, it was a terrible experience and not something that we had expected. may be we had very high expectations of this place. Definitely avoidable and will discourage as many people as possible from going to Mahua Bagh Farm.

“Please avoid”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 April 2012

This place is highly overpriced for the facilities they offer and the owner / manager dont care about the kind of service offered. Will list out the negatives that we encountered during our stay

1. No Air conditioning from 9 am to 9 pm cause the place runs on a generator and it seems its not economical for the management to run the genset all day. The management actually had the audacity to tell us to pay extra for running the genset all day and it can get pretty hot there during the summers

2. No hot water in the shower. If hot water is needed the staff has to be told. They will then get the hot water in a bucket. Not exactly the kind of service that is expected.

3. No change of linen or towels on a daily basis, actually the staff never cleaned the room during our 3 day stay there.

4. Chipped tiles in the bathroom / dirty shower curtains. Really the whole bathroom was a letdown.

5. A small sachet of shampoo and a bar of soap was what went for toiletries during our 3 day stay there.

6. The taps run dry at odd hours.

7. The resort doesn't have a telephone system, so if anything is needed we have to trudge down to the service area.

8. They had promised a refrigerator in each room which was not the case.

9. The staff though courteous and helpful is not trained for the hospitality business

Plus points.

1. We were served with really tasty food. The cook was brilliant with the non vegetarian stuff.

2. The service was very courteous and every small request was promptly attended to with a smile.

All in all I would suggest everybody considering this place to avoid it as there are other lower priced resorts nearby that offer better facilities.

“Terrible for couples with young children.”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 April 2012

We were a group of four couples each with young to very young children ( age between 6 months to 2 years) and a couple of bachelors who booked five cottages in Mahua Bagh for 3 nights/4 days. The place is beautiful, rustic and the staff over friendly. The food is delicious and homely. However there are glaring loopholes which make the experience forgettable and mostly terrible especially if you are visiting with young children. For Rs 5200 (discounted, as we visited as a group) per couple per night, the place is extremely over priced as the basic infrastructure is terribly sub standard. The Bagh offers two types of cottages. Since we stayed in the older, I would like to review those; though the newer ones are only fractionally better. The place boasts of air conditioned cottages; however the air-conditioning in the cottages is available only at the mercy of the generator (due frequent power cuts through the summer). The generator is operated by the staff only in spurts (as per 'management instructions') during afternoons and through the night (from 8 pm to 8 am) which means the rest of the day you are practically sweating it out as the voltage fluctuations ensure the fans also don’t work. This, we were told is a normal phenomenon during summers due to poor voltages. The cottages do not have geysers/heaters and so warm water has to be asked for which is delivered to you in jerry cans. The staff is very friendly and helpful but as they are local recruits, they lack basic housekeeping traits. Each cottage was laid with one set of linen and the set was never changed for 3 days. The dust bins were not cleared for the duration of stay. A tiny soap and one shampoo sachet was the only entitlement per cottage for the duration of stay. The rooms/bathrooms were never cleaned even once during our entire stay. This all was despite a long correspondence for over a month with the Bagh's manager, Ms Aarti Mishra who was well informed of our stay with little children. We were not once informed of frequent power failures and the 'strict generator running timings'. The only positives were the food which made us feel at home (the barbeque is delicious and never ending!) and the staff which was prompt and ever helpful. Overall a terrible stay for couples with little children (no airconditioning through the day in summers and no warm water in bathrooms in winters!!). So all in all a bad choice of vacation if you are travelling with little children. Do visit the place if you are looking for excellent food and/or have superb company as we were lucky to have!!!!

“Beautiful!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 April 2012

It was absolutely lovely. The staff was extremely courteous and adhered to all our needs! the place is serene and makes you want to stay there forever!

The owner, Anu Singh was there at Bagh and personally met all the guests. The beach is just a 5 min walk and there was a point when we saw the sunset and the moon coming out together - if only we had used our Nexus Galaxy's to capture that in panaroma! The farm dog: sheroo is extremely friendly and walks you to the beach and guards you from everything :)

We even went fishing (the traditional way: with nets) and it was an awesome experience, to be in the middle of the ocean at 7pm with the stars above you, just waiting for the nets to get some fish.

They just have 10 rooms, so the crowd was perfect, even though it was booked out. The food was all farm fresh and lovely. They make you non-veg on request and that was very nice too.

The owner and the staff is completely cool with alcohol and in fact encouraged us to go drink on the beach :) The caretaker Daljeet Singh is a very nice man and made sure we were comfortable and all our needs were met.

There's complete network coverage for all phone providers.

We even visited the Murud Janjira fort (which is a huge fort right in the middle of the ocean) and it was all organised by Daljeet Singh and was a lovely experience: especially the boat ride to and from the fort :)

I strongly recommend a visit to this property, it was just everything we expected and more.

Thank You!
