This Jain temple comes under the eastern group of Khajuraho temples. This is the largest Jain temple. It was built by King Dhanga in mid 10th century. It is a Sandharaprasada temple which means it's sanctum has pradakshina. It has 2 sanctums, one facing north and other south. Tirthankar Parsvanath image was installed in 19th century. There are few erotic images. Originally, this temple was dedicated to Adinath, first Tirthankar. Its entrance porch has very ornate ceiling; outer walls have lavish carvings and images of both Vaishnavs and Jains.
Few figures to mention:
1. A dancer is fastening ring bell in one leg while a helper is standing with other set of ghungroos
2. A very sick man with visible ribs and sunken chest taking advice from physician
3. A nayika writing a letter
4. A damsel extracting thorn from her feet
5. A woman fondling with her child
There is no entry fees.
It's a Jain Temple, so it's a little different from many of the others. It's very interesting to notice the slight differences.
