We enjoyed our stay at Sarai immensely. The lodge and cottages are well done and meticulously designed to be as eco-friendly as possible. It is apparent Raghu and Joanna put a lot of time and effort to be as light on the environment as possible down to how they heat the water! Not only were the accommodations wonderful but the food was very authentic to the region much of it developed from Raghu's family recipes. We were among the lucky who saw a tiger and it was definitely the highlight of our India trip! The park is not overcrowded and we had a wonderful naturalist from the lodge accompany us on each trip. I highly recommend staying here, as we are currently in an uncertain time with regard to travel, it is important to support small local business like this one who take good care of their staff and in this case, have deep environmental ties to preserving the tiger in the area, when we can.

Room tip: Make sure to take the boat ride- it is beautiful and relaxing!

Dear Jennifer,
Thank you for your lovely review. We apologise for the delay in responding but had received no alert so only today saw your kind comments. We hope you are staying well through this difficult period and look forward to a time when we may see you again. Meanwhile I hope the good memories are sustaining you through these travel free times. We are all fine here and the Sarai remains open and the tigers occasionally visible! Thank you for reviewing us so nicely.

4 nights was too short here. We had morning and evening- safaris, one night-safari which is very different from the others, and one slow boat- safari, no motor, on the river.
It is very close to the park- entrance, just 5 min. drive.
It is also close to Khajuraho, about 45 min drive, the Serai at Toria can arrange a car. Khajuraho is easy to see by yourself, 3 ours will be enough, the rest of the town is charming and tiny, some small shops and a market for the locals.
Serai at Toria is an extraordinary nice place. The location is beautiful, the hotel is in a large nature- area some few meters up from the the riverside.
The hotel fit in as local houses, luxury in an elegant balance between English and Indian with natural materials. The bathroom is a fairytale, and unordinary good beds.
Absolute clean. Very good food.
The owners, an Indian/ English couple, have worked with sawing tiger- programs in Panna national park in many years, with snow- leopards in Ladakh. Now they works with the locals to involve them in tiger- saving. They have films about their works they show you on request; very knowledges people. Very friendly, polite, and take very well care of their guests.
Highly recommended

This lodge is run by a couple who make your stay memorable. Raghu is a scientist who has researched the tiger population in the Panna Tiger Reserve (with a documentary and a book to prove it!) and Joanna is a writer/photographer who takes the lead in welcoming guests. As a couple, they make the stay a delight.
Accommodation is in large, comfortable cottage-style rooms, spacious and furnished with traditional furniture. Access to the tiger reserve is quick and easy. The lodge itself is on a river front, on which we had an afternoon canoe ride, guided by an expert local boatman. We were able to switch a second visit to the park, which we did not want, for this canoe trip on the river, showing the flexibility and high level of customer service offered by the owners, Joanna and. A terrace at the front of the lodge provides an excellent place for breakfast or a pre-dinner drink. The food was excellent.

What a wonderful place. We were so well looked after by Raghu, Joanna and their team. The cottages are very comfortable and the food especially delicious. We very much enjoyed our safari and everything about our few days at Sarai at Toria.

Room tip: I think all the cottages are much the same

What a great stay we had here for three night and it's beyond our imagination. We had a great time with Raghu, Joanna, Piyush and our naturalist Mr. Jaipal and all the other staffs. The food was straight from the garden. We had the memorable marriage anniversary here . They arranged a special setting for dinner for us. They arranged for cake also. It's like we are celebrating with our family. A very special thanks to Mr. Piyush for everything.
