The resort is really close to the beach like literally 5 min walk, the pool is a nice place to relax in the summer heat. The staff is nice, we had requested a mosquitoe repellent and we got one. As for the rooms they're not the best, a little small and cramped but makes up for the price. Overall nice to stay as it's close to the beach front.

Stayed here for 5 days over Christmas in the poolside cottages. We had a problem with the aircon in one of the rooms when we arrived but this sorted straight away. Staff were friendly and arranged taxis to the station on our last day. The pool area is great - surrounded by palm trees and very relaxing. The location of the hotel is also very good - set back slightly from the cliff yet only a two minute walk to all the restaurants. Would definitely stay again.
Akhil Beach - Raja Park, Varkala
Although I had clearly asked for a room on an upper floor, I was shown to a dark hole on the ground floor. There was a small mosquito infested terrace, so sitting outside was not advisable. Overall this room was far from what I understand by de-luxe accommodation. I tried it one night, but it was no use. So I mailed Nivalink for help. One hour later - Nivalink acting as fast as usual - I was shown another room in the Raja Park across the street. It was definitely better, but I decided to upgrade to cottage 103, which was a very good decision. The room, in which I had already stayed in 2015, is quite big, has all necessary amenities and a nice kind of balcony for my evening cigar. So I took my meals in the Akhil Beach and used the pool there which is set in a beautiful garden. I always found a nice bed in the shade, and poolside service was available. The restaurant served good food and if I am not mistaken, speed and quality of the service have improved.

Remote batteries were dead so that didn't work either. No follow up to fix them in the day. Guy came at10.30pm which wasnt acceptable.
I had asked the staff to send over waiter to take the order...when he came he took everyones order on the left side of the pool...but didn't walk and ask any of the guests on the opposite side. So need to be more attentive plus pool guy should be more attentive to giving towels and placing the mats on the poolside lounges
We have been here for one night. From outside, the Resort looks pleasant, especially the ornamented inside with carefully trimmed plants is appreciable.
The two rooms, we were assigned were just so so. Low lamp, ordinary bed, normal towel, old TV will never make you happy. The rooms were small too. In our room the latch of the bathroom was found to be old and we faced trouble to use it. However we had verandahs to sit outside and they were good. And yes they have a swimming pool and a billiard board for recreation.
The food we had here was not bad. But here also, while we were having our meal, found two cats roaming under our table. Yes, we shared our food with those poor pets. The restaurant, I feel needs training, since out of the three plates they served with tea cups, two were found to have big crack and I informed of the same to the reception.
The Resort is some ten minutes away from the sea beach and a big segment of the path does not have any light. Thus, during night while we were returning, we had to use mobile torch to reach the Resort.
It’s a budget Resort and the staff members of the Resort are well mannered. I must confess that even after some issues we enjoyed our stay here.
We stayed here for 3 nights after visiting North India. Pool was a great area to relax with a cold beer and restaurants/beach is only a few minutes walk away. There's a fan but no A/C in the rooms which are a little dated but ok. If you're looking for somewhere to chill with a pool near to the beach this hotel is ideal.
