In January 2012 I stayed at Akhil. This was my third visit. The hotel and grounds are very quiet while still being well positioned within easy walking distance of the beach. The rooms are spotlessly clean. The staff are always pleasant and Rajesh (Food and beverage manager) and Manu (Front office) in particular go out of their way to be helpful. The restaurant food can be recommended. There is a lovely pool with a pleasant garden surrounding it.

We (2 swedish families w. three kids ages 6, 8 and 8) stayed at the resort early 2012, and boy - we're we pleasantly surprised. Having travelled a lot with kids (Bali, Vietnam, Thailand, and more), we still rank this very high on our list. Free wifi, a large and well-kept pool, nice balinese-style cottages and a quiet location with true walking distance to the cliff.

I would also like to mention the resorts own restaurant. Great food, and above all - splendid service. Would like to mention Khem Raj Tamang, Manu and Santosh especially. Some weeks before coming to Kerala, we stayed at the Taj in Mumbai, and these three in the Akhil staff would not be out of place there. That goes also for the front-desk staff and management, who helped professionally solve those mundane but annoying things that can occur in India.

I know this sounds like a sales pitch, and in a way it is - this place deserves to be discovered since their online presence doesn't quite tell the story.

Room Tip: Poolside cottages have two floors, so you might have someone living above/under you. Which wasn't a problem for us.

We enjoyed this place at New Years eve and had very nice food and lovely Kathatali dancing - what a night.
An other evening we had dinner as well - again very nice food. The food is very well prepered and we got what we aksked for - we like it hot :o))
The waiters are very polite and the sorroundings are beautyful. We can recommend this place!

We stayed in the garden view a/c cottage. This was newly refurbished, beautiful and clean and very spacious (including a luggage room which I thought was a great idea), The children loved the pool which is very large and well maintained. The gardens are also beautifully maintained. Thank you to all the staff who were very courteous, helpful, and friendly.

We stayed at the Akhil Beach Resort for 4 nights right during end December in their pool side cottage. The booking for the resort, however, was done during summer planning ahead of the year end holiday rush. This process was very smooth - we got prompt email responses from the resort for all correspondence.

The stay at Akhil was quite pleasant. The room we stayed in was on the 1st floor - the room and bathroom were pretty clean and spacious. Clean towels were provided. Room cleaning and refreshing towels was done as per our request - be it morning or afternoon. We missed electric kettle and soft pillows in the room though.

Our booking included complimentary breakfast - included continental and indian options. For other meals we visited the cliff-side cafes, which barely a 2-3 mins walk away. The only meal we had at the resort restaurant was a fabulous Kerela lunch. It is a good idea to order well in advance - they have issues managing the meal-time rush, leading to delayed service or simply declining to serve some dishes.

The resort pool was decent - we used it only once during the stay. The pool chairs were not too many. There was an in house ayurvedic spa - the treatments were not cheap. The service was not good - we felt the staff was not trained well.

The hotel arranges for guaranteed airport pick up and drops. For our very early morning flight out the extremely friendly reception folks actually drove us to the airport.

Overall, we enjoyed the stay. Decent rooms and more importantly easy, quick access to the cliff.
