Prior to my arrival, my husband had stayed in a standard room and said it was fine but very basic and did not have much light. We decided to upgrade to an upper level room at the edge of the property, overlooking the ocean, and it was an excellent choice. The room was clean with nice furnishings, a balcony and large window to take in the vast ocean view. The bed was comfortable and had a surrounding net. The bathroom was very basic and did not have hot water from the shower head but only the faucet below. The grounds of this hotel were just beautiful with very tall palm trees and hammocks and there was even a lovely resident dog that occupied the lobby area. Breakfast was wonderful here. The service, food and view were all very good. The best part about this hotel is that it has a private entrance to the beach. Varkala Beach is quite busy, so it was a treat to have this quiet, more private section of the beach, accessible from the property. Important to note is that there are many steps on this path and it is a little steep. It weaves through what feels like a small jungle, along the cliff. The only real issue we had at the hotel was that there was a giant roach / water bug in the bathroom, larger than any we had ever seen. We were surprised when after being released outside it flew away. I suppose this can sometimes come with the territory but made for a little unsettledness during our stay. Still, we would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it for cleanliness, views and service. There is certainly pride of ownership at the SeaShore.More
