Mr. Simon a kind friendly and knowledgeable man has created a retreat that cannot be missed. The accommodations are tasteful and calming the food is outstanding and the setting and views make Paradisa special. We hiked, climbed to our guides favourite viewing place for the whole valley and had fascinating evening conversation

If we were to return to South India this would be one place we would revisit unequivocally

This is truly a unique hotel. The views are stunning and Simon ( the owner and architect) arranged for us to take a very lovely walk in the nearby jungle as well as a visit to a large tea factory .
The food at the resort is very good and the kitchen is quite flexible. We emailed before arriving and pre ordered lunch . This was quite useful as we arrived a bit late .
We stayed I the cardamom villa which has two large bedrooms and we had an extra bed put in each one for the kids.
There is a small pool with deck which is nice after a walk in the hot sun.
If you are not opposed to windy , hilly roads and you would like to see some Indian country side in the south I would definitely recommend paradisa.

Greeted by the owner, Simon and his staff. Georgi was particularly helpful and played integral role in our comfort. Secluded at 2900 feet above sea level. View was delightful. Food very enjoyable. Learned alot about the spices, grown and harvested on property. Stayed in the Cardamon "cabin". No AC but the temperatures for mid to end of February not a factor. We (two couples) had the run of the place for ourselves. The drive from Cochin to Paradisia was four hours. Driver an absolute must. Learned alot about the local way of driving!

Room Tip: Each "cabin" tucked among the hillside. mountains. The Cardoman cabin is their signature cabin and found on their marketing brochures, etc.

We had been travelling in the tea growing areas for a week (from Ooty to Munnar) before we came to Paradisa. It is long journey from Munnar so we were a little weary on arrival and hoping that our travel would be well rewarded! Within minutes of arrival we knew we had come to a special place. Simon kindly allowed us to stay in Cardamon Cottage which was just beautiful with its own grass terrace overlooking the valley below. The cottage itself was just beautiful with antiques everywhere and a bright and fabulous bathroom. We had been a bit disappointed with our experience in the widely acclaimed Munnar. Yes there are a lot of tea plantations and a museum for tourists but it did not come anywhere near a true experience of plantation life. At Paradisa we were taken to a working tea plantation and also visited the 2nd oldest golf club in India. You could feel the ghosts of bygone days with plantation families enjoying their gin and tonics on the lawn! We were able to observe the tea pickers at their work, and wathc the whole (real!) factory process of tea making. We met many of the tea pickers as they walked to work, and they all wanted to say hello and shake our hands. Simon has a wonderful young man that works for him and he took us on an evening walk pointing out countless trees and natural spices (we also took a sneaky detour into the local Toddy shop which was a great experience!). The food at Paradisa is superb, the service refined and exceptional. If you want a real experience I suggest you come here.. even do not bother heading up to Munnar.. one night here is worth 3 there! (not sure why a previous reviewer talked about the steps.. we looked at this room and it is only about 200 metres from reception along gentle steps.!) Paradisa is one of those special exceptional places worth every km of the journey.

Room Tip: All rooms are fabulous.

Up in the Western Ghats. What an amazing place! Stunning views across the mountains and tiger reserve from the dining room. Met by Simon the proprietor who joined us for lunch. Very interesting and good introduction. Our 'room'. Was actually an authentic Kerala cottage rebuilt here. Beautiful, with open air bathroom and verandah overlooking the view again. Later taken for a walk around the plantation by Georgie which was really great. Learnt lots about the trees and plants. Food was fantastic. Just so happened we were the only guests on the one night we stayed which made it extra special. Did not want to leave.
