We stayed here for one night as part of a Kerela tour and it was the worst night of the lot.
The hotel itself is run down. I can image it was once a thriving 'resort' but its best days are long gone. The pool looked dirty and was freezing cold on account of the the hotel being high in the mountain range, so that was of no use. The food was gut wrenchingly bad.
The hotel is also very close to a Mosque so be prepared for a fairly loud 5am wakeup call during call to prayer.
Barring the elephant sanctuary Thekkady itself has little to offer most tourists. It is full of oddballs and the excessively religious with a general unfriendly atmosphere. The fact that there was ongoing issues between the Indian Army and a Tamil Nadu group (we heard gunfire in the surrounding hills and there was a heavy army presence in the town) didn't help.
