Rangerwood Nature Castle

Its really a window to wild as they say. Its a serene green cool place to feel to be totally out of this chaotic world for a while to nourish and recharge our mind to be back again in the materialistic world. The rooms are specious, clean and decorated traditionaly. The staff is prompt and caring. The authorities are always ready to guide the tourist for how to enjoy this stay and to makde it a memorable stay in Thekkady. We can enjoy testy traditional food and fantastic typical Kerala massage in their massage centre. One should not miss Kalaripayatta, the threeling martial art from Kelarala and a colorfull prosperous traditional dance Kathakali. An exciting jungle treke, elephant ride and boat ride is must. In short two days stay in Rangerwood becomes a sweet memory for lifetime

The best part of the hotel was its food. After 5 days in kerala, I was hunting for good food and I found it here. The quality of food was simply excellent.

Pros:
1. Excellent rooms, bath and wooden interiors. Every room had a mini refregerator
2. Good view of the forest from the hotel room. (pros and cons both)
3. Staff was friendly and the service was fast.
4. It has good handicraft shops close by (will suggest Konark Handicraft).
5. A neat and tidy swimming pool next to the restaurant.\
6. Free wi-fi
7. Good spa and massage

Cons:
1. If you have booked the wild view room, you might have to encounter frogs croaking noise which is nasty. This room is at the basement. So, proper sleep might be problem.
2. The compound wall of the hotel is shared with the forest and you might fear watching wild pigs and other small animals or their sounds at night.
3. No lifts/elevators.

Overall worth a stay, worth your money

Room Tip: Choose any room other than the one on the basement. Wild view rooms are on the basement.

The property is quite good. We visited it in May, 2012. They had given Wild View Pavilion Rooms. The view from the rooms was quite good but honestly, we found them a little overprices for their worth. If you are expecting food to be delivered to your room, forget it. We were expecting such services since the hotel is premium range. The hotel seemed to be low on staff as well. Even if you want to order coffee in the room, you had to go down to the reception to place your order. Overall a good hotel, but service needs to be taken care of.

Room Tip: The Wild View Pavilion Rooms are nice but a little bit overpriced for their worth.

Very difficult to fault this hotel!
We had a huge room decorated with wooden sculptures, a huge comfortable bed and a brilliant shower and bathroom. Our balcony looked out over the boundary of Periyar National Park and was a great place to watch a thunderstorm from!
We received good service from the restaurant staff and our evening meals were really tasty. Breakfast left a little to be desired considering the standard of the hotel.
This hotel had a pool which looked clean but we never had the time to use it.
The real selling point of this hotel is it's proximity to the park gates, only about 20m away. We managed to get up at half past five (gates open at 6, a queue forms about 4.45am) and get the first boat tickets of the day.

Room Tip: The middle floor offers brilliant rooms with spectacular views for a lower price than the top floor...

The location was quiet good...not very crowded and also very peaceful. The room was very big but i think unnecessary. Electricity was going off every now and then.. the view outside the room wasn't very good...the most pathetic thing in the hotel was the food..because nothing else was nearby ate in the restaurant in the hotel. Had the dinner there where we couldn't eat anything..breakfast in the morning also was quiet ordinary...in december it was quite expensive but no facilities.
