Beautiful building from the outside, lovely and helpful staff, and clean and tidy rooms with fresh linen complimentary bottle of icy cold water, clean toilets and a nice breakfast included.
From the outside, the building looks like an old Italian mansion, with a beautiful drive way full of well tended flowers and foliage. The floors inside are beautiful natural stone and varnished wood accents. I stayed here for 3 nights in december with my family in 2 double ac rooms and we had a very pleasant stay.
the rooms are of a good size, with very effective air conditioning, very clean and all windows are fitted with mosquito nets. Altho there were nets and a mosquito deterrent plug in, we did get a few , but I think it was due to leaving the main room door open for a while. Fort Kochi is notorious for mosquitoes anyway, so considering this, we hardly got a few.
We arrived quite late at night, due to problems with our car and getting a bit lost, but we rang the homestay and spoke to the care taker who was helpful and was very warm and welcoming when we arrived. He greeted us with a smile and helped us with our luggage from the car into our rooms. The rooms are fairly basic, but clean, cool and have enough for a traveller. Each room had a small table(upon which there was a tv), a wooden chair, twin beds out together to make a kingsize, a wooden cupboard, another small low wooden table with 2 shelves. We were very comfortable here and the staff contributed to making our stay even better. Each morning, we would go up stairs to the communal dining table on the balcony to be greeted by warm smiles , fresh pineapple juice, warm pots of tea and coffee, endless plates of steaming hot toast, jam and butter as well as an omlete each! this would all arrive within minutes of us taking a seat at the table. We were even able to store our baby's food in the fridge and freezer of their kitchen
the nice thing about the communal dining table was that we could meet and chat with other guests at the time, and one morning, we were even treated to an interesting view of a local man going up the central coconut tree in the front garden and cutting down coconuts! This was really nice, and a rare opportunity to see one of Kerala's natural commodities being harvested right in front of us!
the location of this place is very good, just a stone's throw from the Chinese fishing nets, Dutch palace, princess street, Mattancherry, synagogue and all the quaint, fun shops too
All in all, we had a lovely stay. and found our time at Chackupurackkal very comfortable. the staff were all so kind and helpful. Keep it up guys!
