I've been to Kochi many times and there is no doubt that Old Harbour is the best place to stay.
As soon as you walk in, you feel like you have stepped into a Hemingway book.
The decor is both elegant and low key. The staff is very attentive without making you feel suffocated.
The garden is well manicured and my children love the pool. After having spent time out and about... it felt so nice to escape the hustle and bustle of the busy, polluted , and hot city.
The owner has paid a lot of attention to detail and the rooms are very comfortable, very clean, and very welcoming!
Since I travel with kids it is not always easy to find food that they really enjoy ( especially in India as it is all so spicy) ... but the chef at Old Harbour is very flexible and will adapt his recipes.
So even my 7 year old walks away from the meals with a smile.

Superb small hotel, friendly helpful staff, delightful rooms, tranquil pool are the most amazing food we didn't eat outside of the hotel. Lovely gardens and good location for shopping and other restaurants if you are there longer. South Indian breakfast delicious dont bother with English breakfast, my only negative comment is that the poolside area needs a clean!

Room Tip: Overlooking the pool

On arrival, warmly greeter by the manager. We were upgraded to a suite and whilst this was welcome the bastion suite has this rather odd room containing just a swing and an armchair... We never used this room so was wasted space. The service was mostly good - odd language issues and the restaurant had ran out of paneer and served the mozzarella salad with feta instead (not a huge deal but how does a restaurant in kerala where over half the population is vegetarian run out of paneer???) Drinks were fairly expensive but I think that more to do with a captive audience and keralan alcohol regulations...
The manager hand delivered a bouquet of roses the following morning when he noticed it was my birthday from my passport check at check-in - this was totally unexpected and a very nice touch.
The pool and sun loungers were good but it's mostly in the shade for most of the afternoon.
The main downside was the wifi signal was very poor and when it did work the connection was very slow. This can easily be resolved using power line extenders so there is no excuse these days
Overall I liked the hotel and the small touches were very good - just sort out the wifi!

The Old Harbor is located in the old town of Kochi very close to the fort. Beach and the famous Chinese fishing nets are also within a few minutes walk. We had a garden room with an outside shower. The room was very spacious and very nicely decorated.
Although the hotel is surrounded by markets and streets the noise level inside is remarkable low. The staff showed a heartfelt friendliness and a defect bulb was also immediately replaced.
A dinner in the beautiful garden with live music should not be missed, especially since the dishes were very delicious.
But also the breakfast left nothing to be desired.
This the Old Harbor left a very good and harmonious overall impression.
It is perhaps the best place to stay in Kochi.

We absolutely LOVED our stay at the Old Harbour Hotel! The service and kindness of the staff goes above and beyond what you usually might find at a hotel - everyone is so kind and attentive and thoughtful. We were fortunate as well to be able to stay in our room through 4 pm (we had an evening flight out) so that allowed us to relax by the pool and enjoy the lovely garden setting before showering up and heading off to catch our flight.
The restaurant is fantastic - delicious lobster and prawn and everyone is just so lovely. I will absolutely return!

Room Tip: We loved our garden room!
