What a lovely experience staying at the Old Harbour Hotel. The staff were so friendly and professional . The ambiance of this heritage building is soft and endearing. We stayed four nights at the end of September 2011 and were so upset to leave. The food and the pool will stay in my memory forever. This was the start of a five week tour of South India and my wife and I loved it.

It even has a story behind it, where the owner bought a big old house that was sitting empty and spent years converting it into a hotel. A lot of the original features were retained. The place feels like a privilege to stay at. Minute attention to detail, high quality materials, everything is well thought through and the staff are very professional and friendly.

If you can, go for one of the suites. They are very large and really well designed, with lots of character. The mattresses are perhaps a bit hard but this is personal preference.

Dinner in the garden is an experience. Very relaxing, they usually have a live band playing acoustic chillout music, the garden is dimly lit and the atmosphere is something different ! The food is very good. A true hidden gem and although Cochin as such does not have a huge amount to offer, I think we will return just to stay at this place and totally unwind again.

Room Tip: suite is the way to go ! the best one is the one facing the garden & pool - very large, lots of light, great view overall. It even has a wooden swing in one of the rooms - unusual !

The first night we stayed at the Old Harbour we were upgraded to the Princess Suite. It was absolutely beautiful- huge and gorgeously and stylishly decorated. We loved the fresh jasmine flowers on the bed every night. The whole hotel smells amazing!! We couldn't have been happier. The pool and restaurant areas are also lovely and the service was excellent. The second time we stayed we stayed in one of the garden rooms which was also lovely with an outside shower which was very cool. Jude deserves a special mention for being super friendly and helpful. Can't rate this place highly enough!

Excellent central location in Ft Cochin. Restaurant food is very good as is service. Stayed in the Princess Suite-as beautiful a room as I've encountered, but strange. The bathroom is in the core of the suite with an open ceiling and one glass wall so privacy is compromised and sound and light transmission is significant. WIFI only in lobby and restaurant. Overall, a very good hotel

There is nothing I can add to all that was written before about this magical place. Originally booked for three nights I ended up staying more and coming back, this place is trully exceptional. The design, rooms, amenities, attention to detail are all superb. But above all it is the service and ambience, created by Jude and his team (and creative design of jasmine flowers on my bed, artistically arranged every evening by Abu) that made it a truly exceptional and memorable experience. Very highly recommended!
