Having been to the hotel two years ago and thoroughly enjoyed our short stay we looked forward to a longer visit.
We were met by Edwin, a very cheeful chap, although two other men were sat at the table by the entrance and didn't even acknowledge our arrival - so different to the other Xandari hotels.
There was a mix up with our room which was our own fault. Kevin very kindly offered us the room we thought we had booked, with the option of changing if we wanted. On the way to our room we noted the pool was extremely green, couldn't see the second step!
Sadly the Indian Navy has started to build a jetty in the estuary which will greatly impede the view to the west from the ground floor harbour rooms. We were lucky that the piling had stopped due to a strike.
We spent time in Cochin and travelled using the ferry system across the barbour having done the usual sight seeing two years previously - thank you Prabeesh for travelling with us and introducing us to new places in the city.
The food at the Harbour's restaurant, 51, has not improved since our previous visit, sadly, but Samir was a helpful and happy chap - he couldn't have done more serving us.
We had complained about the pool and it was dealt with however, we cut our visit short going back to Xandari Pearl, as we could not use the pool due to the long process to rectify the problem.
At no point did the manageress acknowledge us or talk to us to address our complaints and obviously the management team never walk around the hotel!
Overall a great hotel spoilt by poor management. Not Xandari's standard for sure.
