Description: As you sit by the shore, listening to the sound of little waves, watching the quiet reflections on the water on a moonlit night, sipping your favorite drink, you will never think of leaving this place. Seagull is not just a building, which provides you food and drink, but this is a place which gives you a complete dining experience. The hotel stands is a gracious landmark of the city, showcasing contemporary Indian influences along with the country's colonial past. The Hotel Seagull, which we see today, was the brain child of sri V S Krishnan, who was a musician cum businessman. This Hotel was once a residence-cum-furniture maintenance workshop of a French-rosewood exporter named C J Revel, whose business, house and factories were based at Thalaserry. The main structure of this Hotel was a simple residence and the adjacent extensions were remodeling and repairing workshops. Later, krishnan modified this simple residence cum workshop into a magnificient property named "The Hotel Seagull" in 1980. Every corridor and modification of this hotel has a history to say and a story to tell. Travelers with a yen for history and heritage will find Seagull and Fort Kochi engrossing. Over the years, the building stood as a silent witness to the passage of time and the creation of history. The Portuguese, the Dutch, French and the British came and went. The country freed itself and embraced democracy and the ownership of this grand edifice changed hands. Today, it has become a favorite haunt of foreigners. We have taken every care to present you the rich traditions of a bye gone era along with the taste of local flavors.

“worst experience in India”
Reviewed 15 February 2012

After two weeks of fantastic food in southern India, our group of seven people decided to try this restaurant on our last evening together. After being seated, it took one hour to get water to drink and wine. After two hours, half our party received their food, which was cold. I was the last to receive my food when everyone else was finished. The food was horrible, and as noted, the service horrific.

“great value, awesome atmosphere”
Reviewed 1 February 2012

this is located about 5 mins from the fishing nets, it's not very inviting but the food and the atmosphere (once out on the deck) is amazing, best of all it isn't overly expensive - best time to go is at sunset!

“UTTERLY DISGRACEFUL SERVICE”
Reviewed 21 January 2012

We went to seagull and ordered fish pollichathu, a whole fish steamed in banana leaf. It was costing 1300 rupees so our hopes were high. When it arrived one side of the fish had a huge chunk out of it, which they tried to disguise by covering it with sauce. When we asked the waiter why a quarter of our fish was missing he said that:

'it was pre boiled so must have flaked off'

15mins previous we saw a couple return the same dish saying that they had not ordered it, after the waiter had put some on their plate. Between ourselves we realised that they served out food to someone these other people, brought it back to the kitchen, re heated it smothered it over with sauce pretending nothing had happened.

A second waiter came along and spouted the same lies, we were furious with their repeated lies and their manager came along. He tried the same thing but eventually ADMITTED THAT HE AND HIS TWO WAITERS WERE BOTH LIERS AND HE WASNT EVEN BOTHERED!

The pathetic excuse of a manager pretended it was all a fuss about nothing and then offered us a measly 100rs off the 1300 price! We eventually just left watching the manager working his slimy charm on another unsuspecting table.

A place that institutionally lies to and rips off its customers does not deserve to survive. Such a shambolic and amateurish outfit will eventually close when people understand how they operate. DO NOT EAT HERE AND DO NOT SPEND A SINGLE RUPEE OF YOUR MONEY HERE!

“Can't believe this place does not have more excellent reviews”

Best food we had in cochin, especially the seafood. Have lunch here, the tables are out by the water in the shade. Friendly service and good to interact with other tourists and lots of locals.
