We stayed for 4 nights in low season, Beena & family really looked after us and fed us very well with Keralan food, breakfast & dinner included with the room.
- Free Parking
- Breakfast included
This was the first place that we staying in India. We arrived at 6am exhausted after our flights thinking we would have to hang around (somewhere) until we could book in to our accommodation at 2pm. However the taxi driver rang Beena and hours before we were scheduled to book in she gave us somewhere to lie down and something to eat and drink.
Unbelievable hospitality which continued throughout our stay.
The food was amazing and our hosts kind, gentle and so very helpful. Our accommodation was very comfortable with both ,airconditioning and showers.
You can sit on the roof and watching the wildlife and listening to the distant noises on the streets is a very peaceful way of passing the evening.
I could not recommend Beena's Homestay more highly she and her husband will look after you as if you were family, for us it was a wonderful way to begin a trip to India.
I will definitely return here on my next trip to India.
Had a lovely stay with Beena and family! Very clean rooms, great food - every meal looked like a feast.
Walkable to main attractions - its about a 15 minute walk to the Santa Cruz basilica and Kerala Kathakali centre, and about a 10 minute walk to the Naval Maritime museum.
Very organised, and one of the first things they give you is the local tourist map. Safe and enjoyable place to stay.
We stayed in several top-rated Tripadvisor home stays during our travels through Kerala - they all had in common exceptionally friendly hosts and levels of service. Beena's was no exception, as the other reviews say, and we stayed here twice. The rooms are very simple, and bathrooms are typical homestay bathrooms - cold shower, not separate from the rest of the bathroom, but it was comfortable enough, immaculately clean and the a/c worked well.
The food was absolutely delicious and they were extremely accommodating providing a meal on our first night when we arrived very late. We had a better dinner here than at the 5 star Malabar Junction, for a fraction of the price.
They were also able to arrange a same-day laundry service, which was very useful.
Unlike some other homestays there was no beer available, but we were told where we could buy some and they would have been happy to chill it for us.
We would definitely stay here again.
Beena homestay lived up to its Tripadvisor reviews, Beena and Sudi are a lovely couple who go out of their way to ensure all of their guests are comfortable and enjoy all there is to see of Kerala. The food at Beena homestay is the best we had while in India!
LOCATION: Located in Fort Kochi, within easy walking distance of the old parts of town and the main sights.
TYPE OF ROOM: Our room was a double AC room, Rs2000 per night, including breakfast and dinner.
The room was basic, but very clean and comfortable and the AC worked very well.
BATHROOM/SHOWER: The bathroom was a good size. The bathroom had a shower, toilet and handbasin, and is open (no wall or screen around the shower).
The shower itself has cold water (which was perfect in the heat of April) however hot water is available from the tap underneath the shower.
CLEANLINESS: The room was spotlessly clean and tidy.
CLOSET SPACE: There wasn’t a closet in the room, however there was plenty of space for bags and cases.
TV/INTERNET: There was no TV in the room. There is a shared lounge area outside of the guest rooms, with books etc for all of the guests to share.
WiFi was available but now working when we visited.
SERVICE: Beena and Sudi provide guests with service second to no other. They are a very generous and caring couple, and although the rooms are basic, Sudis incredible cooking is well and truly the highlight of the homestay. The meals are delicious with lots of variety. If you’re travelling to Kochi make sure you stay here if you’re a foodie.
My wife and I stayed with Beena and Sudi for 3 nights in March 2012.
Although the room was basic it was clean and the bathroom ok
The food was excellent and as we wanted to see some of the Kerala sights Sudi organised (with Charlie at Carnival Travel) trips to the tea plantations at Munnar, a night on a houseboat in the backwaters of Alleppy and a week in Northern Kerala at a beachside house (full board) near Kannur at which we went to a Theyyam in the middle of the night!
If you want a friendly place where they give good service and advice go to Beenas.
