this hotel is in d heart of mangaluru city... in hampankatta... very close to ideals icecream parlour... safe for solo woman traveller.... but staff at reception & in d dining area r extremely pathetic..... thers a buffet for brkfst in PADMASHRI restaurant at the ground for.... if you ask them for a cup of hot coffee their reply is... d guest should get up frm their seat and get the coffee themselves.... what a pathetic attitude.... even if u want a extra helping of sambar / chutney u get the same reply... I am a regular visitor to this hotel..... infact this year I have been there thrice but thers no change in d attitude of d ppl in d dining area as well as in the reception.... they just don't want to move...... inspite of being a coffee beans growing state u don't get genuine filter coffee here.. ...what a sad state of affairs.... u get d cheap version called chikori..... chikori roots r similar looking like coffee but they're awful to taste..... I must say that back home in Mumbai u get superb filter coffee in any of the std UDUPI hotels.... their service is sooooooooooo sloppy.... their dosas r smeared with oil....i asked them to prepare plain dosa without oil.... d reply was.... v make it like this only.... v can't change for u... in d afternoon I ordered for a plate of basmati rice and dal.... I requested them to prepare dal without tat oil blob as iam not accustomed to eating soooooooo much oil.... even their rice is soooo hard.... so I told them to boil d rice properly so that it's soft and edible... their reply...... no v can't change anything.... u have to eat things as its made in d kitchen.... they don't have this concept of half plate rice.... so I had to order for full rice plate.... soooooo much rice got wasted becz obviously i couldn't eat such a huge portion of rice.... d fellas who come to tk ur order r extremely stupid.. ...they don't care a damn for what the customer wants.... they're unfit to be in d hospitality industry.... and this behaviour of theirs is a ritual with solo woman travellers..... as soon as men come to the restaurant they behave like angels..... they'll tk down all the orders properly.... keep a glass of hot water on their table.... when i asked for hot water i was told to get up and walk upto d table where hot water was kept...... all this inspite of the fact that iam regular visitor to this hotel.... their mattresses r soooooooooo hard... their pillows r even more pathetic.... I was having severe pain in my neck and shoulders becz of d stone hard mattresses and pillows.... they're absolute unfit to be in the hospitality industry..... nonsense ppl..... no customer service at all... & to top it all this time there were 3strands of hair in their sheera (sweet item)... very unhygienic.... my advise to solo woman travellers is NEVER EVER GO TO THIS RUBBISH HOTEL IN MANGALURU.... it's waste of time & money...... anything u order 45 mins is the minimum waiting time for the food to appear on ur table..... PATHETIC UNHYGIENIC SERVICE....

My parents would stay here whenever we came to Mangalore and I have continued the habit.
They have refurbished the hotel over the years.
The USP of this hotel is undoubtedly, it's location. Second good part is the food.
Rooms are spacious.
However the last time I stayed here, found some kind of bugs in the bed, cdnt get sleep.
Complained about it to reception and housekeeping.
They got the entire bedding changed. Apparently it was some problem with the bedding.
Their taxi/ cab facility is very good as have availed it for travel to various temples like Udipi SriKrishna Math, Kukke Subramanya, Dharmasthala etc.
Overall a pleasant stay.

It's an old but a well located Hotel in Mangalore. I spent a night recently. The hotel room is well sized with reasonable facilities.
It, however, appears that the management is not quite willing to run the hotel, anymore. If things work, it's fine but if anything doesn't just forget it's remedy.
Of particular dis-service is the restaurant. Food is awfully bad. The man in charge is only concerned about collecting money sitting at the counter. It was appalling to see that they were serving water melon juices in thin transparent plastic glasses.

Its very old hotel . I stayed here for two nights. Rooms were clean. Did not have any problem while check in and check out. Complimentary breakfast was very tasty. Hotel is very well located in the main city. The city centre mall is walkable . Many temples are also walkable. Mangalore famous ideal cafe is also near. Worth for what I paid .
