A resort nested in a secluded place far from the hustles and bustles of Bangalore city. A place perfect for a weekend getaway if you do not prefer traveling for long distances. It is slightly different from the other hotels in a way that it will expose u to the rural lifestyle of India. You can take a bullock cart ride to taste a bit of rural India. The swimming pool when we went was full of algae( It was green. So assuming it was Algae ) But they said the water was clean. So we decided to get into the pool. It wasn't comfortable and got out quickly though. The best part bout this resort is Star gazing lying down on the boat drifting in the water. Was an out of the world experience. A must do if you go there. Easily One of the best places in Bangalore if you are ready to dig deep into your pockets. But trust me worth every penny of it.

For our anniversary we were looking to do something special. Most resorts around Bangalore are either full over the weekends and/or too expensive and/or a ripoff (like Holiday Village, Jain Farms or Unwind Island) that sound great but offer pathetic service. With low expectations, decided to transfer money to ONV with a prayer for a bearable if not outstanding anniv celebration.

We should've anticipated the service excellence of ONV from the way they detailed every turn and lamp-post in the "Directions to reach us" page of their website. Despite a route going through villages, we were there in 90 minutes without a single U-turn. You pass through beautiful grasslands just before the property looms up, nothing more than a bunch of thatched huts. The yummy jaljeera and garland welcome is just the beginning.

The bellboys, waiters and executives are ALWAYS smiling and wishing you well. Something extremely rare in Bangalore hotels. The room is a delight, very airy and well lit. The natural incense fills the air with a dizzy aroma. We hop over for lunch and get the best fish ever. The homely, caring service just makes it tastier.

Then there are the activities-- everything from pottery to milking the cows, to gilli-danda and kite-flying, to dirt-cycling and bullock cart rides. Not to forget the unique and refreshing "pond-pool" which is a must-see, must-dip. For our toddler, there were pups and kittens and geese and turkeys and goats and god-knows-what else to keep chasing. It was also the first time I was seeing many of these animals and things outside of books :-)

For the evening, they arranged a spontaneous candle-light dinner for us after hearing in passing that we were there for our anniv. By the end of the trip, we were looking at the calendar planning our next visit.

Run by Ambika and her family, ONV has people like Abhilash, Sudarshan, Manjunath and others who understand the concept and philosophy of the place. As long as boisterous day-trippers with loud music and beer cans do not destroy the sanctity of the place, ONV is absolute value-for-money and a must-visit on the Bangalore tourist itinerary.
