“Excellent food and service”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 June 2012

We stayed for 2 days at St.Marks on 05/27/2012 and 05/28/2012. There are lot of things that we liked about this hotel. The rooms are pretty big; comfy beds, lots of storage, complimentary wi-fi, excellent walk-in showers and the living room and bedroom are nicely separated from each other. Both rooms had TV and we loved that feature. They have complimentary breakfast and were pretty impressed with the variety they offered. We had breakfast, lunch and dinner and loved the quality of food and service. Even my 9 year old son loved their food and we met the chef Mr. Vimal and thanked him for the excellent food and variety that was offered.Great value for money.
The hotel is in the heart of the city and moving around was pretty easy as most shopping centres were pretty close by. The only thing we found wanting was a good gym with swimming pool. It was extremely hot outside and we would have loved to relax in the pool.
Overall we loved our stay here and would go back again the next time.

Thanks,
The Raj Family

Room Tip: We stayed on 7th floor and room was very spacious.

This was my first trip to India and the people of St. Mark's made the trip. I cannot begin to tell you how attentive, kind, and friendly the staff is. The property is in the heart of the city and daily walks showed the incredible range of life in India. But the hotel is an oasis in the midst of the bustle of a dynamic city.

The room was quiet, clean, and comfortable. It was well arranged and had ample space. The high ceiling added to it's spaciousness. If you insist on a swimming pool, you're out of luck though.

The restaurants served good food (though, as a Kansas City kid, it's different), hot, spicy, and served by an attentive staff. The breakfast buffet had ample selections and had enough concessions to the western palate to allow one to get through the remainder of the day as a vegetarian.

But it is the people that make this hotel. They are a bright shining example of how a good hotel should be run. I cannot thank them enough for making my stay as pleasant as it was. I wish every city had a St. Mark's.

Room Tip: The room I was in was at the back of the hotel. Nice view of the cricket stadium a couple of kilomet...

I have stayed in the hotel several times over the years. With the new refurbishment completed it just gets better and better. Service is outstanding; rooms are very comfortable and well appointed. Food is excellent (included breakfast is well worth it) and the bar is fine for a quick snack and refreshment. Can't fault the place. Highly recommended.

This is a great boutique property for business or leisure travelers with an excellent value! It’s centrally located near shopping malls and the metro line is an easy tuk-tuk ride away. As others have said the hotel staff bend over backwards to please you. I have to agree that St Mark’s is pretty close to 5-star property at a much lower rate. For me it was almost $150 USD per night (7500k rupees) less in terms of cost, and I stayed in small suite verses a room.

The suite, #220, was very comfortable with a separate sitting room, a writing desk, couch, easy chair, TV, fridge and coffee bar set-up. I needed a suite to accommodate a couple of business appointments I had scheduled. Otherwise, there are not any quiet sitting areas in the hotel other than the restaurant to have a private meeting. And there is a small dark, and sterile, meeting room on the seond floor. The lights in the lobby are blinding!

I was concerned since my room faced the busy street it might be loud but the location proved me wrong and I was not disturbed by the traffic. The halls were relatively quiet compared to a recent 5-star hotel I stayed at in Mumbai.

The included breakfast buffet at St Mark’s rivals just about any 5-star property in terms of variety and taste, but at a 5-star hotel you’ll average an additional $20-$24 USD or 1000-1200 rupees to the room rate.

I also like the fact that the internet is included in the rate, once again, it can add $14-$18 USD or 700-900 rupees a day plus taxes to your room rate in a 5-star property!

Their “Luscious” Bar offered 30% off (all beverages) for Happy Hour which I took advantage of ordering libations and tasty snacks. Room Service was prompt but I didn’t order anything fancy, just a grilled ham & cheese sandwich.

Although most people may like this, I really don’t care to be doted over. (lavish or excessive in one’s attention) It’s pretty common in India. One part of providing an excellent service is to do be more subtle in your approach without the guest realizing you are right under their nose. I felt like I was constantly being starred at. As I would take my last bite of something the staff would almost pull the fork out of my mouth to clear the utensil and plate. Lol.

The only thing missing is a spa, swimming pool, hot tub and steam and liquor in the mini-bar. (which could use an upgrade with better snacks and variety) But that is the trade-off for a 5-star verses a 4-star hotel, verses a $150 per night lower rate. St Mark’s is one of the nicest, friendliest and the best value of any hotels I have stayed at in India!

I wish there was a ST Marks in every city in India!

Room Tip: Upgrade to a higher priced corner room or mini suite, otherwise you might find the rooms too small.
