I don't quite agree with how Shrimath Yoga has been categorised under Speciality Boarding. Staying at Shrimath for the 21-day 200-hour yoga program is an experience, and it is an experience for only a select few. Not everyone can pluck themselves from their daily mundane life of job, deadlines, career, bucket-lists, goals, etc. and come to Shrimath to learn about things that matter the most.
At Shrimath Yoga one learns about a yogic life, not just postures or yoga aasanas. I stayed in the humble yet comfortable room for 21 days and followed a rigorous routine on a daily basis without the intervention of technology or unnecessary human interaction. The daily routine has different sessions and classes through the day with ample breaks and free time. The daily schedule aligns with a stress-free and healthy lifestyle. Shrimath property is amidst a quiet village, some few kms from Bangalore. Filled with trees, greenery and farms one can get used to living a quiet, pollution-free life here. One gets to see great views and experience new things on a daily basis. A nature lover's paradise.
A batch of 5 people from different parts of the globe with different cultural and spiritual backgrounds coming to together for the same cause - learning more about oneself and discovering the finer things in life.
We were taught about the history of yoga, the relevance of yoga in the indian culture, the theory backing up different aspects of yoga by Krishna Sir. Krishna Sir's knowledge is a force to reckon with.
Along with these classes we also had several sessions where we interacted with school children from the neighbouring village or helped with gardening and farming.
Vanitha mam and Hema mam took sessions for yoga aasanas, yoga nidra and pranayama. Each session is a step towards inner peace, self-discovery and personal health, be it physical or spiritual. There is a lot to be learnt from the Shrimath team at every instance.
Coming to the meals, Smita mam cooks the most amazing satvic meals. The purest and healthiest meals one can have to sustain a healthy life. The food closes the loop of healthy living, contentment and sustainability. After eating here, one's food habits might change forever.
The entire Shrimath experience is not something that can be written about because every individual has a different goal and every individual takes something different. One thing that can be assured is that every person comes out of this experience with some life changing revelations.
