I have stayed at the Leela Palace twice over the last six months, both times for corporate events. It’s a great extension of the Leela experience on most parts.
The rooms are good, typical of a major five-star brand but nothing distinguished the rooms from those in other hotels in the same category. And I say that with no concerns in mind. A special mention for service: the lady at the reception realized I was a repeat visitor and proactively signed me up to their loyalty programme a benefit of which was free wi-fi, which was a nice touch.
The restaurants again are grand and boast serious variety in their spreads. The breakfast place has a lovely sit out next to a small man-made stream, it has a nice European feel if you are willing to be carried away for a second. The spread can be esoteric – I found gulkand halwa one of the days – and vast enough for you to indulge yourself.
The ball room experience was ordinary: no windows, the bottles of water had been stored in a damp place and had a bit of a musty smell, the chairs were the usual straight-backed contraptions you get in most conferences and there was a large hole in the false ceiling which had paper taped over it. And nothing remarkable about the food served on buffet.
The experience was typical of what you will get in any hotel of that category; the thing that rankled is that nothing was differentiated enough for me to file away in my mind.
