“The Leela Palace, Bangalore...”
Reviewed 11 February 2012

Definitely on the expensive side but the company was paying, so.....
The restaurants are fantastic especially Jamavar. The food is one of the best that i've ever had . That's something coming from an Indian reviewing Indian food. I had both south Indian & north Indian food. The meat dishes, the meat is so succulent with a rich spicy blend to it. The decorum is real cool, i definitively prefer the outside seating with all those fauna & foliage around you.
The bar, called the Library, is also very cosy, with deep leather seats that you can sink into. Lots of grandeur at the same time with a laid back look to it.

I have stayed in the Leela Palace a few times in 2006 - 2007. Those were the days when 5 star hotel rooms were scarce in Bangalore and the airport was less than a kilometer from Leela Palace. I remember paying close to $500 for the room and still the hotel was always full. A lot has changed since then, first the airport moved out of the city and there is lot more competition in Bangalore these days. I still ended up paying more then Rs. 10,000 for the room but it is less than half what they charged in their hay days.

Ok now the good things. The hotel itself looks fabulous as then name suggests is designed like a palace. The interiors in the rooms and the hotel in general has a lot of elegance. It is very different from the business like looks most five star hotels have these days. The service is good in general though I still feel the front desk needs to be little more courteous and faster. The breakfast and lunch spreads are lavish. The GYM is located in the basement so has a claustrophobic feel to it. In their defence they also have a couple of exercise equipment close to the outdoor pool. Overall a great experience if you don't mind the cost.

Room Tip: If you donot like to walk request for a room close to the elevator.

This hotel was fantastic, very luxurious, the staff were great. For 3 Australian ladies on our first night in Bangalore (first night in India!) it was a relief to be staying somewhere that we immediately felt at home.
The room was very clean, had all modern facilities and was very quiet.
The restaurant Citrus had a great range of Indian and western foods available and always seemed to be open whenever we were hungry.
The only issue we had was that we wanted single beds and they had allocated us a double bed room but this problem was quickly rectified.
There are lovely gardens outside to wander around in and the pool is very inviting.
It is more expensive compared to other Bangalore hotels but worth every rupee. Would definitely stay here again if I came back to Bangalore.

Visiting Leela Palace was very good experience, also I met my wife first time there. Hotel Design, architecture are excellent. They got plenty of excellent dinning options. A shopping mall inside is very good. And coffee shop there was also very good, I spend hours there. Bar was very good. Food is costly there. Even if one doesn't stays there, you can visit hotel. You can visit the mall and restaurants and bars there, and it is one of the best place in banglore to spend some time.

This was my second stay here, over five days in January 2012, in room 639. The rooms are excellent, with all the little details right that so many hotels slip up on. Both mattress and duvet were extremely comfortable, bedside lighting was good, the shower excellent. The hotel is very grand, with attractive gardens and a large pool. It has a fabulous Indian restaurant in the Jamavar, which is perhaps the best Indian restaurant I have eaten at in over a dozen visits to India. There are lots of polite and helpful staff, and everything is spotless.

Even the lifts are dazzlingly efficient. They arrived so quickly that I started to play a game of counting how many seconds between pressing the button and the lift arriving; I never got past eight seconds. The hotel is about 45 minutes from the airport in light traffic (which rarely happens in Bangalore outside the dead of night), 90 minutes in normal traffic.

This is a world-class hotel, and if you are going to Bangalore I would highly recommend it.

Room Tip: If you stay on the club floor you have access to a lounger with free drinks and snacks whenever you...
