“Mixed feelings”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 August 2012

I went there for an official trip to one of our company's office in Bangalore. We chose IBIS as it was closest to our office (just across the road). It is a decent business hotel with good breakfast spread. However, dinner was a bit disappointment. It is better to go for A la carte than buffet. Rooms are a bit small. I have stayed in bigger and better hotels in whitefield with much lesser price. No bell boys - one of us was carrying quite a luggage and there was nobody to help her!! The reception guy, with a smiling face, told us that they do not have bell boys and did not offer her help to carry her luggage. One more disappointment was that pool was closed for maintenance. Also, they dont have complimentary dental kit. One has to buy it for INR 50. Good things- Proximity to office, Office transfers included, good breakfast spread.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for staying with us at Ibis Bengaluru Techpark and for taking time and giving us your feedback.

I shared your comments with the team and I am sure that this feedback will serve as an encouragement to all of the staff as we strive to continuously improve the quality of our services.

The Ibis brand world wide is pretty much standardized with no frills like concierge service, In-Room dining, full mini-bar, swimming pool, spa, etc but on the other hand we deliver a clean and a comfortable room offering excellent breakfast and speedy service. By doing so, Ibis believes in saving on price for the guest without compromising on quality.

Having said that, I see no reason why the front desk staff didn’t assist your guest in having her luggage sent up to the room and I apologize for the same. I am pleased to inform you that the Novotel Swimming pool is now open. I also would like to thank you for appreciating the Hotel and the breakfast served.

I once again thank you for sharing your feedback, and we look forward to an opportunity to better serve you in the near future.

Regards

On the Outer Ring road, of the IT zone (Tech Park), and sharing the premises with Hotel Novotel, is IBIS Bangalore.

For starters IBIS seems to have well understood the model of economical (don't read as cheap, quality-wise that is..) boarding.

So from the start, don't expect anything, and every thing you get will pleasantly surprise you, and if you don't get it...well...read the start of this sentence.

You have to carry your luggage to the room yourself, (if other hotels have spoilt you already).
When you get to you room, it's small, but self contained. Bigger and taller folk may tend to feel really claustrophobic. The bathroom, is a modular pre-fab one, (reminded me of a Space station facility) but is clean and functional and enough for what you need it for.

No Amenities though.
And if you do call for them, you have to purchase them at a surprising rate.
So please go prepared or then be ready to shell out.

In room dining is a very sparse menu, and if you do order, you have to hike it down to reception, and collect your tray. Don't get me wrong - they do deliver, but like everything else - correct - they will charge for it!

The breakfast buffet is decent, and if your tastes and requirements are not many, you will be fine.
They do serve and chargeable dinner buffet, which is a well laid out menu. But if you decide to pack it and take it to eat in the comfort of your room, guess what?! - correct!
If you want a more elaborate menu for choice, ask them for the Novotel menu. That is more expensive, but good.

Like the room itself, the wardrobe is small, which won't hurt if you plan to be there for just a couple of days, rt then live out of you suitcase.

Are you looking for a view? - Forget it. That won't even come, if you are willing to pay for one. So keeping the shades drawn will be a good idea. Else it could get depressing.

There is a common ironing board and iron on every floor, and I think the same goes for shoe shine and ice.

The staff is courteous, and professional. They follow up, and make sure you get what you need.

The billing process at check out is quick (not surprisingly) so you won't have to spend too much time there.

If you are on a business trip, corporate tie-ip's will allow you the use of a car to be dropped off/picked up from the near by IT parks.

To sum it up, the've mastered the art of quality on a (good) shoe string budget.

Room Tip: Don't know if they have a choice of good rooms.

Hello There

Thank you for taking the time to tell us about your experience at the Ibis Bengaluru Techpark. I am sorry that the facilities and amenities did not meet your expectations.

At Ibis, we strive to provide a superior service experience for every customer; therefore your feedback is very important to us. Accor has over 4500 hotels worldwide and it believes in standardizing the various brands to meet global parameters. At Ibis, we do not compromise on quality and value but help the guest save on price and hence we have priced our rooms in such a way that after removing all the frills, the guest gets the maximum benefit in terms of price paid in comparison to any International hotel in its segment.

It is indeed true that we do not have a concept of Bell boys, however our reception team members are fully trained on this aspect of the job and will be glad to assist you at all times.

With regards to the size of the room, this is the standard Ibis room size globally. We also have the ibis suites available for our guests and these rooms will enable you with more space and more storage space. Also these suites come with two bathrooms. Should your requirement be of bigger room size, I would recommend Novotel which shares the same complex and I am sure this will cater to all your expectations.

With regards to the amenities we have all the basic amenities available for you to purchase from the reception at nominal prices.

We do have a self contained in room dining menu available for take away. You could order and pick the food up from our restaurant Spice it or have the same delivered to your room. Picking up the food from the restaurant will ensure you save an amount of INR 100 on the order.

We do have an in house laundry, however we have provided an ironing corner on every floor for the convenience of our guests as these will enable guests to quickly iron their clothes without having to wait for Laundry to pick it up and deliver. I am sure you will appreciate this gesture as business travelers these days look for quick and convenient offerings.

Having said that, please let me know the next time you are in the hotel and I shall personally ensure your comfort.

We appreciate your sharing your concerns, and I look forward to an opportunity to better serve you in the near future.

Sincerely,

Vinay Nair

Well there are some pros and cons:
Pros:
The hotel is professionally managed. The staff is very courteous and professional.
Rooms are clean and well maintained.
Close to companies in Sarjapur.

Cons:
Rooms are small.
Breakfast menu is sometimes repetitive.
There are very few channels on TV and the response to remote is very slow.
WiFi charges are very high.

It is a nice hotel but it does not justify the price it charges. Rooms are very small. Breakfast is good but dinner was disappointing. It was surprising that they dont even have bell boys to help you with luggage.

The stay at the hotel was very pleasant. The rooms were small but were well equipped. The housekeeping was good and room ambiance was maintained well. Efforts were put to make sure that the environment remains calm and peaceful. The Dining area is very well maintained and with a good range of delicacies.

But the number of channels available for viewing are extremely limited and they are pretty bad selection. There is not decent news, sports, movie or music channel available. It would have been good if they provided free wifi. If not, the daily 15 minute wifi which provided by the hotel near the reception, should atleast be provided at the room. The gym is decent but not do not expect too much. Seemingly trivial problems, but they do hassle at big when you stay for more than 2-3 days.
