Been there during winter and the system of environmental friendly of Ladakhis make you fell in love. Friendly and helpful staff from Ecology Hostel. Took almost 15 to 20 minutes walk to the main bazaar, but the view and the location of the hostel is peaceful and quiet.

I highly recommend this place for environment conscious, the solo- traveller types to stay here. I feel im home when im here. I have stayed here during winters on two of my visits to Leh. The view of Shanti Stupa from your windows are out of the world. I have a kind request to guests here to keep quiet and dont play your music here.

Run by a lovely family, rooms are basic but comfy. Dinner is very good value and an opportunity to try tasty homecooked ladakhi dishes, breakfast not so worth the buck. It's a bit of a walk (15 mins?) from main leh but it's nice to be removed from all the noise and bustle. Lovely views and a tranquil vibe.

All in all would very much recommend!

Really quaint little place on the hill overlooking Leh just underneath the Stupa. Whilst the location is good as its away from the hustle and bustle of Leh the steep walk uphill quickly loses its appeal.
The staff there are super friendly and helpful, although occasionally there can be misunderstandings due to communication issues. The food they make is amazing, particularly the traditional ladakhi food, and is very reasonably priced.
The rooms are very basic and the toilet is a drop toilet inconveniently located outside which is a bit annoying if you need to go during the night. There is wifi which is very inconsistent but the social area is really chilled and relaxing. And the night skies are spectacular.
Overall a very reasonably priced, environmentally friendly place.

This place is kept warm using solar panels. The hosts are warm and helpful. My stay was pretty comfortable although it was freezing outside. The food the hosts prepared was tasteful and the other guests at the stay were very responsible people who cared about sustainability. Will definitely recommend this place for all those who prefer a quiet and a comfortable stay.
