I travelled with my family to leh in the month of May.
we booked woody vyu after reading to the reviews by many travellers and considered ourselves lucky to to have actually found this place. Once we arrived we were chauffeured to this stok house, which to our pleasure was not in the city. Its quite to the interior, around 35 min from the airport in stok village. defiantly a breath taking view, but the marks for that would defiantly go to the nature and not the the cottage.

We were welcomed by Mr. Ashok the errand boy, and was shown to our room. There are only 5 rooms, and to our surprise no reception area. Once in the room, our string of surprises started. The room was OK, but the actual surprise was the balcony to which it opened. The complete flooring was broken and in shambles.
You cannot think of sitting there at all!
The bathroom was our next surprise, The health faucet was broken, so were the lights next to the sink, and in the name of toiletries was a pitanjali hand wash 1/4th filled .
we were obviously not happy and asked for a change of room.
The staff (mr. Ashok) was courteous to give us another room, but the next day. The second room was larger in size and no visible breakage, but the condition of the balcony and the wall (the plaster was falling off with slight bang of the door), was still the same.

One the first day, we anyway were acclimatising so decided to enjoy and we requested Ashok to provide us with some seating arrangement in their garden area. To my horror, I was given two broken neelkamal plastic chairs and were told "yahi hai ji"
The dinner was Ok, and we were thankful.
The plus points: view, peace and beauty of the surrounding
negatives: everything else. There are only 3 people to run the place; Ashok, Jigmet (the manager) and the cook.
They shift positions as per their availability. we ate only aloo jeera and dal for 4 days. Reason; the only other thing available was paneer (my son doest eat) and mix veg.
Curd was good.
The place is badly kept. the walls and ceiling plaster is falling apart. Its all cosmetic.
for 10,000/day, I could have got a much much better place to live.
There is no amenities, no wifi, no phone. there is no kettle in the room. If you need tea, you need to shout for Ashok. If he is unavailable you need to wait.
The rotis were made of maida (still Ill give benefit of place).
It could have been a heaven, but for the utmost "i don't care" attitude of the person incharge.

WoodyVu Stok House is located around 15-20 mins distance from the Leh market. This house is in a quiet Stok village surrounded with a beautiful scenery, breezy natural and complex mountains. It’s wonderful atmosphere which you can’t find in any places like this in the town.

The interiors of the old house with contemporary furniture and decoration is nice. The room is large, clean, comfortable and privacy and the view from the window was make me feel peaceful and relaxed.

A very very good service from staff ,home owners, guide and divers.

It was a difficult time to find food for foreigners in the Leh market but they brought food from Delhi to cook for us. (The chef is very expert, very tasty food.)

Me and my family would like to thank all the staff, including the guide&drivers who take a very ver good cares for us. I think for 5 star service is too little. I ask the stars themselves as a million.

Thank you
Suwisa

I was focussed on assuring a comfortable yet an authentic ladakhi experience in choosing my stay in Leh. With some research on the local experiences and how the topography of Leh is laid out, I made it a point not to go the conventional way in staying in a property in Leh town. So we zeroed in on the beautiful secluded home stay from WoodyVu properties in the adjacent village of Stok and aptly called the WoodyVu stock House.

Since we were flying in and out of Leh (and not opting for the much fancied road trip), the location seemed distant to us from and to the airport.

During our visit, we realised its worth the money as Leh now seems to be very crowded and the hotels there do not offer anything drastically distinct like WoodyVu. Almost all of them have the same views. But where Stok house scores in location – When I opened the balcony doors and could see triad of valleys – from Khardungla one one side to the Stok Kangri and the himalayan ranges spreading across other canvas.

We requested the Khardungla suite on the top floor and gladly were accommodated there. After that tiring ride to reach the house, we were offered some wet warm towels and a welcome drink to do off with some AMS (sickness). The interior and decor is exquisitely set up giving away an array of colors in the vivid furniture and the bamboo inspired roofs and bath areas.

One of the highlight of the Stok house in their traditional ladakhi kitchen with tibetan utensils and decor. We were initially a bit apprehensive when the manager told us they don’t cook himalayan meals and we would have to be content with the north indian cuisine only. But we got a chance to have 2 dinners and a couple of breakfasts and each meal was uniquely tasty though simple in making.

The Staff (from the hotel manager Mr. Ajay to the service staff ) were extremely warm and ensured our presence was indeed a pleasurable one. You feel like returning there back again on the next visit to Leh – Ladakh any time.

We had the pleasure of staying two nights in this very quaint and rustic house in Stok. Ajay was our manager and his team made our stay extremely pleasant and comfortable.

The rooms are very beautifully decorated. And the bed was the most comfortable after the Four Seasons.

They have an excellent chef- you will want for nothing. Your every need catered to here.

Leave the cares of the world behind and enjoy the peace and solitude.

Areas that could have been better - wifi (but who cares if you are on holiday).... And hot water...

This place definitely doesn't deserve a 5* rating on the website. Stay is not worth the price they charge.
Although the Staff was quite warm and very helpful.
We were so glad that we booked this place only for 2 nights. It's quite far from the Ladakh centre and peaceful. At the time of booking we particularly mentioned that we might need an early check-in since we were arriving by 9am at the stay. It was promised But we still had to wait for more than an hour since the staff was getting room ready for us. Moreover I particularly asked to accommodate breakfast for us but we were not even offered that except for some cereal and tea. Stay is far from the centre that you wouldn't want to travel 20mins after a long journey just to grab some breakfast. I wouldn't definitely want to shell out ₹9000/night for a stay like that where you don't feel welcome.
