The hotel is well maintained and and has a cosy feel to it. It is located right next to the Leh market, which is great. The staff was very good, and gave us personalised, yet professional, service. One drawback was that hot water was not available 24 hrs and another that the room windows were not well sealed from sound - one could hear the street dogs barking through the night.

However, all in all, a recommended place for any traveller.

Room Tip: Try and pick a room away from the street side.

We were extremely satisfied with our stay in this hotel.

Room:
+Spacious and spotlessly clean.
+Looks and feels very cozy.
+Nice and clean bathroom.
+Very good and clean linen, sheets and toiletries.

Location:
+Very nice location. Peaceful and quiet, yet just 2 minutes walk from Leh market.

Food:
+Very nice buffet with good Indian and continental choices in the menu.
+Breakfast also has nice Indian and continental options, more options will be better though.
+Very fresh vegetables served from their own firm.
+Nice packed lunch given when we left hotel for a road trip.

Service:
+Very nice trained staff, well versed in Hindi and English.
+Room was well arranged and everything was in place when we arrived. We did not have to ask for a single thing.
+We were given apricot from treed in the hotel premises. It was very fresh and nice.
+The staff were quick to respond and were very attentive. They paid attention to details to each and everything.

Overall:
Highly recommended. Even though the prices may seem to be a bit high, but you get more than you paid for.

Room Tip: A room in 1st floor will be better than the ground floor in terms of noise and view.

The hotel is just off the market area, close enough to stroll around without actually being in the hustle bustle of the market. The rooms are nice and there is a central courtyard like area to relax under Apricot trees. Hot water is on a specific time table, which is annoying when its cold most of the time. The restaurants food is good enough to fill your stomach but don't expect any gourmet delights.

I'll prefer to stay in Kang La Chen again if I plan for Leh again. Rooms are good, clean, hot water available but after 2-3 reminders to reception.
Location is great, very near to main market. If you're a foodie and a sweetaholic, search for a Jalebi shop in the market nearby to the hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from main garden, its quite down there..

We visited Ladakh 1-7 July 2012. I had been communicating with Mr. Jigmet, Managing Director of Kang La Chen since February 2012. Our stay at Kang Lha Chen for 5 nights, 1 night accommodation at Ulhe Eco Resort, one night accomodation at Tirith Camp, Airport transfers was all organized perfectly. The hotel even applied for our permit to Changla Pass and Khardungla.

The hotel is well located, close to the town market to do shopping and explore in the evenings. The courtyard has a really good view of Leh Palace and Leh Monastery.

The Manager, Staff and Mr. Jigmet himself were excellent hosts. They took such good care of us. Our trip to Ladakh was amazing and we will carry these memories until we get a chance to visit again in the future. I highly recommended this hotel!

Room Tip: Rooms on the first floor give a good view of the mountain peaks covered in snow (Depending on the season you visit) as well as Leh Palace
