If you are looking for an authentic villa built using traditional Ladakhi architecture and want to stay off the beaten track outside central Leh - this place is brilliant. The service is excellent making this a great place to acclimatise or relax for those who don’t expect any WiFi or TV or soya milk.

The rooms are spacious and the windows offer a nice natural cooling effect. The water pressure is a trickle but then you are living in the middle of nowhere.

Hope you enjoy this place as much as we did.

The rooms are interestingly done up and a combination of old world charm with modern amenities. The location was perfectly distanced from the city, to be able to visit it but also have a quiet place to come back to. The views from the property are great and the rampart was lovely to sit out on for a few hours and watch the evening pass by. Willow cafe, by the hotel offers some amazing multi cuisine food and is located amidst apricot trees, which was a perfect setting to wind down after a two week trip before returning home.

Great staff who go out of their way to welcome you. The historical aspect of this boutique accommodation, the staff’s knowledge, a great choice of food and experiences make Stok Palace a unique place to stay in. Definitely a must if you are in Leh. Views are amazing from the terraces. Rooms design is great and cleanliness levels of high standards.

This place is amazing. Very unique and true Ladakhi experience. We stayed in the palace part. Rooms are nice. Enjoyed the dining in royal dining room and throne room. . Location is very nice. Not a typical hotel and hence not for people who would expect hotel comfort. The staff are very courteous and helpful. They did go out of the way to help us recover from our severe altitude sickness. Acclimatisation was more difficult here given the steep steps within the place. Despite this we truly enjoyed the place. Definitely a great place if you wish to steep in local culture.

A quaint property, with comfortable rooms and cheerful staff.
But, be warned, it takes half-an-hour, two calls and one visit, for piped water to change from lukewarm to hot in the evening.
The breakfast service is rather reluctant - with no juice, spare cutlery and insipid coffee. The restaurant serves an uninspired fixed menu dinner with brinjals and karela.
The rates vary widely for the same rooms. Located rather far from Leh.
Overall, it wasn't an enjoyable experience. In sum, avoidable!

Room tip: Choose a room with a balcony.
