“Must visit spots for Srinagar”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 May 2012

I highly recommend everyone to visit Mughal Gardens if they go to Srinagar. They are the diamonds of Srinagar. You will find extremely good roses, wide variety of flowers & amazing landscape. Loved them.

“Gardens nice but not well maintained”

The fountains were not working at Nishat garden. You can avoid nishat and visit shalimar.

“Fine example of the Mughal style of architecture & design”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 May 2012

We visited the The Mughal Gardens on the 7th of May, 2012. Actually, the Mughal Garden is a combination of three renowned gardens namely the Nishat Bagh, the Shalimar Gardens and the Chashm-e-shahi. The Shalimar garden is now filled with rows and rows of trees and flowers are in full bloom everywhere. Water is flowing down from the top in a stream that bisects the Garden. With the mountains at the background and the Dal Lake at the front, you should have plenty of time to enjoy this place. (Some so-called gardener might come forward to you, offer you flowers so that you can pose for photos and later ask for tips!!)
When we reached Nishat bagh, it looked quite dry as all the water sprinklers/streams/fountains were kept under maintenance and hence out of service. The Chashm-e-shahi was full of people lining up to drink the holy water running down from the hill above through the garden. All the gardens are indeed very fine examples of Mughal architecture and design.
(Donot bother to buy anything from the hawkers.)

“In a sad state...”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 May 2012

I am sure the gardens were very beautiful in the mughal times but now they are in a very sad state. There is no control over littering in the gardens though it is a punishable offence as mentioned at the entrance itself. It is better to look at the pictures of the garden on internet rather than seeing the place in reality.
