We crashed into Lalit without any reservation, because our previously booked houseboat was not accessible due to police road blocks. This came after a long and pretty scary driving day acccross the ZojiLa Pass, so we were sooooo relieved to find a wonderful team at Lalit looking after us.
The settings are obviously quite unique, but we will remember the dedicated team and the great indian buffet !
Thanks

Room tip: Ground floor rooms have a direct access to the outside gardens. Definitely recommend those.

We travelled as a family of 13 for the long weekend to the Lalit Grand Palace Srinagar. Right from the hotel pickup, to check-in, to the stay and the check-out, the one standout of the trip was the incredible service by the team at the hotel.

From the GM Nikhil all the way to the junior Housekeeping team, each of our requests was met with a smile. Special thanks to Pintu, Chef Vijay, Sandeep (F&B), Altaf at (F&B) and Sharad (Housekeeping / help).

We stayed for 4 nights in 4 lawn-facing premium rooms (GF) and 1 Two-bedroom cottage with a private lawn. The views are incredible and one can catch picturesque sunsets and a glimpse of Dal lake from right outside the rooms.

The food is really nice - especially the Indian stuff. As we were hotel bound for 3 days during our trip, we tried almost everything from the In-Room menu. Overall rating is 8.5/10 for the food with just 2-3 misses among 30+ dishes ordered.

One thing to note (like other reviews mentioned) is that parts of the property do show their age and need a renovation - e.g. the kitchenette and powder toilet in the 2-bedroom cottage were very average and not up to the standard of a 5-star hotel at all. However, as a family, we felt the service made up for these cons.

In summary - I highly recommend this hotel for its location, setting, service and old world charm. Room tip - definitely go for the rooms on the ground floor with access to the lawn. That's the best part.

Thanks to the team at Lalit, we will be back soon.

Room tip: Rooms on the ground floor with lawn access are a must.
