We stayed at this property as we had to chose between either the Vivanta by Taj(super views) or this one, we chose this one because it was working out cheaper by a good $100 and the management at Taj was acting very pricey.
Anyways our check in was bad. The guy at the front desk who claimed to be a supervisor was a real nasty guy but all that changed soon enough as his boss came out to look into the matter. Sulekha was superb at connecting with us and she took great care of us and ensured our stay to be worry free.
The staff overall is superb especially the local Kashmiris that have been hired by the hotel however the outside staff isnt very co-operative.
Location wise its a very good property in a very upscale neighborhood of Srinagar with a lot of security.

Room Tip: The pool is not in the same building as the property so you have to go from outside. Its not heated as it was claimed. The pool guy was rude and dumb. Make sure you speak with Sulekha or a local Kashmiri employee to get the best service possible. The one and only restaurant is good. The bar however is overpriced.

I stayed here from 31 Dec till Jan 2.
Booked palace suite room online and was expecting a great place but when I landed,I was given a lousy room which was not at all as per specification basis which I booked and they said they are sold. Very disappointing but after creating bit of noise got extremely large room...not at all pleasant. Managed somehow rest of my stay.

The staff is raw and untrained. Not at all worth the five star and what you pay. It seems they picked up some local guys and never trained them whether be it room service, housekeeping,In room dining or restaurant.

Will never stay again here!

One of the best places I have ever stayed. Kashmir can be dangerous due to political issues. Outside of this, I would definitely recommend staying there if you are planning a trip to Srinagar.

This hotel is certainly one of the best in Srinagar. It is strategically located over looking the Dal Lake. The hotel has a huge sprawling lawn which is well maintained and manicured. Rooms were very comfortable and cozy, all of them facing the Dal Lake. The service at the Lalit Palace is simply impeccable. Always friendly and welcoming. Even more welcoming was the tea served as welcome drink. The tea was loaded with herbs, cinamon and saffron. The cuisine at The Chinar Garden was exquisite and comes as a pleasant surprise considering that your are in a God-for-saken place like Srinagar. The restaurant offers a good spread of continental and inter-continental cuisines. Truly impressive...

Room Tip: All rooms face the Dal Lake. Look out for rooms on the first floor.
