“Beautiful Mountains... Manali”
Reviewed 25 May 2009

I visited Manali in May 09 with my husband and 2 children. The weather was lovely and chilly in the evenings. Manali has lots to offer like paragliding, skiing, rafting. A visit to Rohtang Pass is a must . It is closed for some time so one must check.
Lovely place, lots of small restaurents and a vast variety of food.
The only hill station in India with the maximum number of hotels.
The day time is sunny and sunscreen is a must.

“A great Honeymoon destination”
Reviewed 11 May 2009

Manali is an ideal honeymoon destination. Surrounded by snow covered peaks round the year, it offers a scenic view. River Beas that flows through Manali adds to the beauty.

Rohtang pass/Rohtang and Solang Valley are worth going. These places have good adventure sports like skiing, rafting, paragliding, snow scooters etc.

The best way to reach Manali is by taking a flight to Kullu. Alternatively, overnight Volvo busses from Delhi are a good option too. I would not suggest a car journey from Delhi as it takes around 14+ hours, though this can be split into two by halting for a day at Shimla or Chandigarh or Parwanoo.

A word of caution: The adventure sports may not be 100% safe and it is better to keep personal safety in mind. Also, all services like adventure sports, cabs etc are offered at a very highly inflated rate and can be bargained heavily.

“My favorite place in India”

Manali is a beautiful hill station nestled at the foothills of the Himalayas. It is not as crowded as Shimla and much more serene and peaceful. The best time to visit would be September when the apple trees are laden with apples and it is not too cold. The Hadimbi temple is a famous tourist destination. The hot springs in Manali are worth the visit. They are supposed to be medicinal and healing. The skies are clear in winter and the view of the snow capped mountains in moonlight is something I will never forget.
