“Mini Switzerland!!”
Reviewed 7 February 2012

A great place spend time with friends. You have a lot to do here, mountaineering, rock climbing, camping, skying (in winters), forest walks and nothing just enjoy the nature. Its place to be close to nature. Place is clean and green, well connected to the near by town Manali. They have few hotels around to offer good accommodation with a high price in high season and at bargain in low season, I would suggest Low season as beauty of this place is present all though out the year. A must visit are the water falls around the area.

“PARACHUTE FLYING”
Reviewed 31 January 2012

Best of all at this place is going up by a ropeway trolley and they coming down on a Parachute. The Parachute is negotiated at the ground is expensive and if you take it from the up it is almost half the price.

“amazing”

Solang Valley is the home of Indian ski/mountaineering association, but its great for amateurs too. There's a small 'ice rink' (where 'skiing' ie walking on skis) takes place. You can have a ride round it on a tatty wooden sledge or have your pic taken with an angora rabbit (hey, its all part of the charm). There was a fair amount of snow when we went and it was fun watching the people who'd never seen snow/ice before. There's a few snack bars, and a slope that you can go down in an old tyre (rustic charm?) BUT the best thing of all for me at least was the fact that I went paragliding from the top of a very very tall mountain. Incredible experience. You go up in a (swiss made) chairlift, but the walk to the paragliding point is really really scary; you have guides and go in tandem and I am just so glad I did it. (Haggle over the price).
It was cold up there, but we'd hired snow suits from one of the many 'shops' on the way. They were a bit tatty and a hole developed in my boot but...memories are made of this kind of stuff. Aren't they?
A young boy accompanied us and we were glad to have him - he carried my friends skis, looked after our stuff while we paraglided etc etc. He didn't ask for any money but we gave him rs300 and he seemed pleased with that.

“Icy vally”

when you travel nearer to Solang, from all sides you get surrounded by views of snow and white magic. The games at the Solang Nation Park are wonderful - its must to skate, para glide and site on the back of Yaks.
