“Mughal Experience”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 August 2012

Trident Hotel in Gurgaon is a Mughal experience. The Hotel is designed in Mughal Architecture style. Most of the hotel is one or two storied and the place abounds with ponds and pools with Chatris and Pavilions reminding you of the palaces and forts of North India. The reception is a simple affair with vaulted ceilings and very friendly staff. Both restaurants are very good. There was a Rajasthani Food Fest going on and the Thali meal I had was one of the best one I had in Delhi for a long time.
The rooms are okay. They are standard double rooms; may be a bit small considering the abundance of space strewn all over the Hotel.
The staff are at your beck and call and I felt at home more than any other hotels in Delhi.
Overall the Trident Experience was a good one.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the pool are the best though they cost a bit more than the others.

After a 6-hour flight and a less than 20-minute drive from Delhi International Airport past midnight, was greeted by a Trident most unlike any other Trident i've stayed at or known which were usually cold, business-like and character-less. As such, my meager expectations were blown away at first impression, although it's no destination resort but appears to strive to look like one with palatial grounds, with pools and fountains scattered everywhere.

Entered a spacious lobby with a high domed ceiling, and had an in-room check-in, which was a thoughtful gesture after an exhausting journey and arriving past midnight, though the keycards/locks didn't work and we were left waiting outside while they kept going back to the reception to get new cards, twice. Only after the master-keycard was used, did we finally manage to get in...

The rooms were half-expectedly new, modern and comfortable, though just like any other business hotel. Personally, it was somewhat comforting that the room smelled of fresh laundry. Not sure if it's just my room or for every room as well. Full-length room windows (sadly cannot be opened) were just next to a large pool of water (not swimmable) that greeted every room.

Breakfast was the star, however. The restaurant where the stellar buffet breakfast was served, was in an airy, whitewashed restaurant with ridiculously high ceilings and playing heavenly ethereal music. Again I feel the need to reiterate that it did not felt like any Trident at all!

As it was a short stay (for less than 10 hours) before flying to Jodhpur, did not get to check out the swimming pool... which looked especially tempting in summer in the low 40s (C).

This place deserves more than just a short layover as it seems to attract visitors with early flights and want to get away from the chaotic traffic of Delhi. Great value for money.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for posting your detailed feedback on Trip Advisor.

The hotel as you have noticed is built to be an oasis amidst the chaos of the city and is unlike any other city hotel. It sprawls over seven acres of land and is characterised by domes, arches, fire torches, reflection pools and greenery.

My apologies for the inconvenience caused to you due to malfunctioning of the door lock. Please be assured that this issue has been raised with the technicians who are looking into this matter. I assure you that you shall not face any issue with the door lock on your next visit.

I am delighted to note that you enjoyed the breakfast.

The team and I look forward to welcoming you back.

Warm regards

This was my 1st visit to India and the Trident is the preferred hotel my employer utilizes for is business people & clients. Having read TA before the arriving I felt comfortable that all was well at the Trident, but as ever you have to experience it to appreciate it. The Trident delivered in every way exceeding my expectations, from the cleanliness to the use of the Health Spa through to the service of the staff / senior management who were all approachable and interested in you a person & not just as a paying guest. Will be back to the Trident when next in Gurgoan and would recommend this hotel for anyone travelling on Business or pleasure.

I stayed at Trident for 2 nights. The hotel is excellent with all facilities of a five-star and more. I think what made it unique for me was the service quality. Their mentality is to really go beyond expectations. I was handed a rose on my travel and because I did not want it to die, I took it to my hotel room and put it in a glass. The next afternoon when I came back, I noticed a beautiful flower arrangement with a hand-written note from my housekeeper saying he noticed I had a rose which was dying so he replaced it with a special arrangement for me, as a courtesy. It made my day!!

Stayed two nights in June. Unique entrance introduces you to the separation from the reality of New Delhi sights sounds and smells. The peace and quiet almost can make one forget what lies on the outside of the walls. Rooms was quiet with views of the garden. Very relaxing. Buffet breakfast and dinner were very good, although there probably was something on the dinner menu that disagreed with me and a few of my fellow travelers. Could have easily been that our stomachs did not have the requisite probiotics to properly defend against the cuisine.
But the relaxing solace that a 2 day stay provided there overcame any minor gastrointestinal challenge. The staff were especially helpful in getting anything I might have needed. Nice gym and pool area--very clean and well kept. Highly recommend for those that really need to step away from the New Delhi pace.
