I chose the Oberoi Gurgaon due to its location to the airport. I had a hard time deciding between the new Oberoi and the trusty Trident (see my earlier review), and in the end the Oberoi representative on the phone convinced me to try out the new hotel. FYI - if you're trying to choose between the Trident and Oberoi Gurgaon, the rooms at the Trident are much smaller than similar class of rooms at the Oberoi. The Trident will likely be cheaper as well (at the time of my booking, it was about $40 USD cheaper than the Oberoi).
I was not disappointed. The Oberoi Gurgaon is situated around massive water bodies of sitting on exquisite royal blue tile. I think of this hotel as a "daytime" hotel as the view changes dramatically from day to night. I happen to prefer the way the hotel looks in the daytime with the water sitting in the royal blue tiled pools vs. in the evening when the water is flambé! Grab a drink in the Piano Bar before the sun goes down.
I had a room facing inward towards the water and the restaurant. I loved the shade feature the rooms have - when you leave the room, the shades go down to keep the room cool, and they're great to blackout the sunshine if you care to sleep past sunrise.
The staff was very accommodating, thoughtful and helpful. I enjoyed room service and 361, the multi-cuisine restaurant. I tried booking a massage at the spa but called too late as they were fully booked (be sure to call in advance to get your spot). I didn't use the gym but did take a look and the size is quite large for a hotel gym, and their equipment was all very new and up-to-date.
I only stayed for one night and have absolutely zero complaints. The Oberoi Gurgaon is sleek, elegant and provided me with a much needed peaceful night's rest before heading out on my next adventure. Bravo, Oberoi!
