“Sad but true!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 February 2012

The sanctuary is good enough but very unkempt and unplanned. No proper place for the visitors. No proper visitor lounge or car parking. The place could be developed into a major tourist attraction but government apathy has prevented this like many other attractions in India.

“A nice day-trip in the winter”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 February 2012

You will need to carry a camera with a telephoto zoom if you plan to take pics of the birds. Don't forget to carry a good pair of binoculars anyway. A good place for a picnic (in which case, remember to carry your trash back) and great fun for kids as there is lots of place to run about. The restaurant nearby made some great paranthas during our trip which we just loved. Try and beat the morning traffic in Gurgaon city by setting out early.

“overnight stay recommended”

First things first - HOW TO REACH THIS PLACE FROM DELHI . You will be surprised to know how many people get it wrong esp day trippers starting at the crack of dawn .
1] Leave Delhi via the Jaipur highway and reach Gurgaon crossing the IFFCO and Jharsa chowk
2] Take Exit 10 at the Rajiv Chowk and turn right under the flyover to exit the highway
3] Immediately after leaving the highway there is a fork , take the Left Road and carry on about 2 km till you see a Mosque on the Right Side
4] Take the Left Turn immediately after the Mosque
5] Carry on till you reach a fork with a temple in the center . Take the Right side Road .A straight right turn is often banned at peak hours so take the left road and circuit behind the temple to reach the right road .
6] carry on over the flyover to reach Chandu Village [ Bird Sanctuary well signposted here ]
7] Leave the highway at Chandu by taking a Left turn . Sultanpur is 3 km down this road .

It is advisable to book accomodation at the Rosy Pelican Resort [ Haryana Tourism Website ] as then you can stay overnight and enjoy the 7-10 Am Round of the park in peace and quiet before the morons arrive with their cricket bats and stereo players .
Restict yourself to the path near the waterbody and marsh [ to the Right and left of the Entry Gate ] . The two causeways into the lake are around 1km to each side of the entry gate .There is no need to take the full 5km round - 2/3rd of the path is absolutely dry and scruffy with very few birds .
