The other wonder we encountered in Jamnagar is the Khijidiya Bird sanctuary, be present at the break of dawn to witness the Sun rising to light up the earth and urging all living beings to begin their daily quest for existence. You can take charge of the many watch towers, to observe the birds and get amazed at the survival instinct since they fly many kilometers from Eurasia in winters to save themselves from the killing cold breeze and enjoy a vacation in the warm tropical weather from the month of November to January.
The place is a known breeding grounds for the Great Crested Grebe, little Grebe, Purple Moorhen, Coot, Black-winged Stilt, Pheasant-tailed Jacan, Raptors, including harriers, eagles, hawks and falcons.
The Khijidiya bird sanctuary is around 10 km north east of Jamnagar and you can easily get an autowallah to get you there or hire a cab.
Be assured because most of the autowallah in Gujarat are helpful and trust worthy but still keep your senses alert for any chances are not to be taken while you travel into unfamiliar lands.
