“Very ordinary , can be avoided”
Reviewed 8 January 2012

Had a choice between the Taj which was close to the airport or the le meridian which is located in the city.

The hotel is in dire need of renovation & then NEEDS TO BE MAINTAINED !!

The staff are striving to please the guests, But once the titanic crashes against the iceberg it sinks .

The breakfast was very poor. Also they don't have a permit to serve liquor to foreigners.
The decor & interior of the rooms is 80 - 90 years old .

Many new hotels (chain hotels) marriott, radisson, crowne plaza are in the process of opening soon. Would rather recommend those.

Any impression of a hotel relies on broadly 3 things -

- the hotel itself or how the property looks and is maintained
- the food
- the service

We stayed at Le Meridien in Dec2011 for one night and our impressions are captured in the blog below. Broadly, the property is so tired and in need of re-furbishment that am surprised it sports the Meridien tag at all. first impressions on entering the hotel and the room is of pure dis-appointment. The furniture, equipment etc are all in dire need of renovation / replacement.

We only had breakfast and ordered room-service for high-team and snacks so this review is only specific to that. Simply put, let me say that we have seen better spreads and taste at even rather average restaurants. The food was simply un-inspiring and added to the overall gloom.

However, I must say that the staff are trying their best to run a hotel which is clearly sub-optimal from a infrastructure stand-point and I hope that the management team at Meridien at least pays a visit to the property.

Overall, in its current form, recommend that you avoid it completely.

Location is good for this hotel. Situated at Khanpole, across the Sabarmati river and on the banks of the river. Do not take a river view room, coz you will see the dirty shanties that have sprung up on the river bank.

It is a small property, nothing like the other Le Meridiens. The entrance and exterior is unimpressive. Small lobby. Feels like it was another small hotel which has been taken over and now run by the Meridein group.

Rooms feel cramped and small. Old and dated. Absolutely nothing extraordinary.

Breakfast is quite sparse for a Le Meridien. Restaurant, there is only one. Limited menu and choice. There is a buffet at night. Avoidable.

The pool and spa are indoors and underground. Looks good, but have some odd timings. Check the timings before you go to the pool. You may find it closed.

Rates, average for the city.

Overall: Average business hotel.

This is a pretty decent hotel located in the heart of the city. its on the bank of the river sabarmati river, which makes a very good view. This hotel also doesnt boast of great restaurants, but its a very good hotel considering the rates and the service being provided. the staff is very good and polite and keep checking with you if everything is to our liking.. since i was on an official trip i was mostly out of the hotel. but would surely recommend this hotel if someone is in that part of the town

Stayed at the hotel for 2 nights on a business trip. The hotel's lobby is very good, the pool and the location are great, when it comes to the rooms, they are a little bit old. In general the hotel is OK for a night or two, but not for a longer stay. View from the river side rooms is very bad, there are homeless people camping just behind the hotel. I didn't like the breakfast, too many Indian dishes and not enough regular breakfast items.

Room Tip: Choose rooms which are not facing the river, the view is awful.
