We originally booked three nights at the Shalom Resort and ended up staying for twelve nights. We have been on the road over a year and a half and we needed somewhere to just stay in one place and relax for awhile and this place was perfect.
We booked one of the rooms with a separate seating area and we loved it. The rooms were bright and spacious, very clean, and had two balconies. It was a great place to just hang out. The Shalom Resort also has a nice pool and we spent plenty of time just reading by the pool.
However, while our room was great, what really made the Shalom Resort a special place was Ganesh, the owner. He is genuinely a nice guy and he really will do whatever he can to make your stay special. In fact, I felt like he didn't treat us like hotel guests, he treated us like old friends who came to stay with him. He really will go above and beyond to help you have a pleasant stay.
Ganesh is also an excellent cook and makes awesome fruit drinks so you will enjoy your breakfasts.
The location is good as you can walk to both Calangute and Candolim beaches. There are also plenty of restaurants and shopping nearby and the main road (where you can catch a bus to other areas) is just up the street.
I will admit I am usually the kind of person who rolls their eyes at reviews that do nothing but praise the staff because I am usually more concerned about the condition of the room. But at the Shalom Resort the rooms are really clean and comfortable, the staff is friendly and Ganesh is always around trying to do whatever he can for you, so a five star rating is definitely deserved.
Staying at the Shalom Resort was the highlight of our time in India and the only regret we have is that we didn't stay at there longer.
