Golconda is one of the famous forts of India. The fort is famous for its acoustics, palaces, ingenious water supply system and the famous Fateh Rahben gun, one of the cannons used in the last siege of Golconda by Aurangzeb, to whom the fort ultimately fell.

“History Lovers.. Hers the treat for you...”
Reviewed 21 February 2012

Golkonda consists of four distinct forts with a 10 km long outer wall with 87 semicircular bastions (some still mounted with cannons), eight gateways, and four drawbridges, with a number of royal apartments & halls, temples, mosques, magazines, stables, etc. inside.

Take a guide and take a trip of the fort.. Be ready to walk a lot... But you will enjoy every bit of it as its a great trip back to History :D ...

Dont miss the Sound and Light show which starts at 6:30 pm there.. You will get to know the history in a all new way... :D There is 1 show in regional language and 1 in English so Foreign Tourists should select the English one so that they are not confused..

It was fun time and it can be fun for families as well.. Not recommended for very small kids... And 1 more thing to add.. Ita a Architectural Marvel.. You will get to know as your guide explains about it..

Have a great journey!!! I have been there Twice... :D

“Hike a round trip till Diwan-e-khas”
Reviewed 21 February 2012

A visit to Golconda fort and the neighboring Qutb-shahi tombs is a must in Hyderabad. The area is under massive encroachment by the local population and various interests including a golf course. The entry area is poorly maintained, filled with small shops and you are accosted by guides (though a good guide can be informative). However a hike up the Golconda fort till the the Diwa-e-khas is invigorating. The summit offers excellent views of Hyderabad. Climb down an alternative route which starts at the Diwan-e-aam and ends at a pavilion which has a evening laser and lighting show.

“Amazing Experience”
Reviewed 20 February 2012

A very scenic fort bulit on the hill and you have guides to take you thru so that you don't miss a moment of history. Located at kind of outskirts of the twin city a good place to catch up on the history and wealth of the Nawab. Need to be physically fit as there is a lot of walking to do and the guide explains each and every feature of the defence mechanism. Some scientifically made up stuff like the place near the entrance where u clap and the echo is heard on the top of the cliff which used to be the Darbar, the place in the palace where the voice can be heard on the diagonal wall and all that.
Please take a guide

“Awesme place to visit”
Reviewed 20 February 2012

A guide is a must for knowing the history of this place. otherwise your trip will be a waste as this fort was destroyed during the war with the mughals centuries back. It was built in the 15th Century and is a marvel.
